My dreams are always really vivid, and I can usually recall them in detail later on. Probably 'cos I've got a really overactive imagination.

A lot of them involve post-apocalyptic or zombie apocalypse scenarios, though. (I suppose this is just because it's on my brain--I'm writing a zombie apocalypse story elsewhere, so I think about it a lot, is all.) But they're never really nightmares, because I'm always kicking ass and taking names with some group of people, and a dude in a cowboy hat (Cowboy Hat Dude follows me everywhere in my dreams, for some bizarre reason).

I dream every now and then.

I had an extremely strange one a few nights ago. It made no sense at all, but I woke up with a clear understanding of what it meant, and I hate what it made me realize.

I believe i once read somewhere that you dream every night and up to several times each night. It's just that you won't remember it unless it's cut off, meaning that if you sleep soundly all night you won't remember a single dream you've had. (I can't remember the reason as to why you can't remember it unless it's cut off though)

Yes, however it goes between being vivid dreams I can remember to being very vague and sometimes I don't even remember anything from them at all.

when I was younger I use to dream every night and they almost always started the same way I was in my bed and then I would spiral into nothingness and then the dreams would begin but nowadays I sleep really lightly and rarely dream and usually when I dream I can't tell if I'm dreaming or just thinking random thoughts

I had a dream once that I was tied down and forced to watch Caramelldansen for eternity. I am not making this up.

I rarely ever remember my dreams, so if I do remember it, it has to be something extremely memorable.

She says she doesn't dream at all and that I'm a weirdo. :( That much is obvious.
As far as i know everyone experiences REM when we sleep, we just don't remember. So you can tell her "well, if i'm a weirdo then so are you" and then do the evil laugh:p i can never recall a dream unless i'm ,like, half sleeping =(

I don't know. I assume I have to, but if I do, I can't remember any of it.

Usually, not so much.

However, when I take melatonin [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melatonin#Roles_in_humans] I often have dreams, sometimes reasonably vivid one.

(Of course, researchers have suggested we always have dreams, whether or not we remember them.)

Normally I might only remember my dreams once every few months, but the past week I've been remembering at least one every night, very vividly too.

I came so close to becoming lucid last night too! I was just standing there (in my dream) when I suddenly thought to myself "Hold on a minute, I'm dreaming here!". So I started pinching and slapping myself, but I guess my brain tricked me or something because I thought I felt pain...

... And then I woke up. I was dreaming! Damn, I was annoyed by that.
OK, that's coming close to blowing my mind. I think if I become cognizant of the weird shit I've been dreaming about mid-dream...the universe would break or something. Probably not.

No no no, being aware that you're dreaming is a wonderful thing, because then you can learn to control your dreams!

It's called Lucid Dreaming [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucid_dream]. Imagine being able to do whatever you want, and with no consequences! Awesome stuff.

That's why I was annoyed when I woke up. :p
I hate when you wake up after that. One thing that I notice is when I start to realize that it is a dream, I tend to wake up pretty soon after that. Don't know if its just the "Oh fuck, this IS a dream!" that startles me out of the dream or what, but it seems like they only last 5 minutes at most after that.

Well, I have dreams all of the time. Thing is, I don't remember most of them. When I do dream, I swear, they're really surreal. :p

I dream every once and a while and I remember only bits of it.
Last one I had, I was being chased up in the mountains in the winter by someone who was trying to kill me.

You always dream. You just don't remember it most of the time.

On Topic, though, when I do remember what I dream they usually involve me getting a PS3 or a game I really, really want.
Most of the time, however, it's dreams of falling down which always end up with me waking up and having issues falling back asleep.

No offense, but your girlfriend is dumb.
Well, she says that sometimes she dreams but it's rare. It's all good. I call her out on her tendency to sleep in a fetal position and steal the covers. That and her cooking is horrib....I mean, umm...
ya i'm in the same boat as your girlfriend i don't dream and if i do it almost always immediately forgotten i can remember parts of only 3 dreams ever
