Poll: Dub or Sub

Subbed for me. When I have the choice, I'll always pick subbed.
People say things like they'll miss the action, or something else, because they're reading. I've never had that problem. I mean, unless I'm reading the subs from literally only a few centremeters away from the screen, I always catch the other stuff with my peripheral vision. It's really not that hard.

Maybe that's just me, but I haven't missed anything just because there're subs on the screen. :S

Subbed. I struggle to enjoy anything dubbed because the movements don't match up with the dialogue, and often times the actual dialogue is changed. Plus, I love Japanese.

Although I hate taking my eyes off the scene to read the subs, I'll choose them any day.

Don't really care too much. Some anime I prefer the dub (Cowboy Bebop), but i'll go for the sub for just about anything else.

Dubbed so I don't have to read the damn screen and miss half the content when I stop paying attention for a second and am forced to rewind and re read it... yeah so because it's more convenient...

I usually prefer dubs.

However, normally for an anime that I get really into I watch it subbed. Sometimes however, there are certain plot points that I don't exactly grasp right away. Thus when the anime gets dubbed, its a great relief to me. I end up going, "Oh thats is what character X meant/did. Duh".

Plus you know, its nice hearing it in my own language. But I will say I love the crazy japanese laughter that happens in most anime. Totally over the top and insane. Course that doesn't mean I don't appreciate the dubbed version!

As for movies, I tend to have the subtitles on. Makes things easier for a movie if the characters are mumbling a lot or I can't have the volume too loud. Subtitles also helped me understand the Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring.

But yes, I enjoy the subs, but I like to watch dubs.

I don't watch much anime but when I do it has to be dubbed; I can't read 20 words in 2 seconds. If I have to watch subbed, it will take twice the time because I have to stop and start to read the subs.

If I can't find dubbed, I won't watch it. If it hadn't been dubbed, I wouldn't have known the awesomeness of Baccano! Now that was a great series. I actually did go back to see what the original voice acting was like on it, and I have to say, I like the English voices better.

Shame there's no "depends" Option. I watched Hellsing, and Ghosts in the Shell Dubbed, Prefered Gungrave dubbed, but watched Code Geass, TTGL, Needless (Granted there was no dubb for Needless at the time) and Bleach Subbed, with all my new anime being subbed now.

There also needs to be a "Anime vs Manga" option (Granted search button could probably lead me there instanly but I don't feel like it) as I muched preferred Death Note Manga then Death Note anime.

I always prefer subbed unless the dub is really good.
The only dub I've deemed "good enough" so far is the Ghost in the shell S.A.C.

Granted, Dragonball was well done. Goku sounds less annoying in the English version. Full Metal Alchemist is less confusing when they refer to Al instead of randomly saying 'Aru'.

subbed for sure, most dubs are just fucking awful. i sometimes even use subtitles in english films just so i don't miss any dialogue.

I tend to prefer subs, because most dubs seem to get really bad voice actors. It's pretty grating trying to watch a movie, where the voices lack emotion, or are just plain... wrong.

If the voice acting is good, then dubs can be better.

Absolutely subs, dubs usually suck so damn much.
Although there are some cases where dub is better, like Hellsing and Cowboy Bepop.

Depends entirely on the voiceactors, if the dub is terribad then the animé becomes that much worse.

There is no point whatsoever to dubs.

I'd like to play more games subbed too. German characters ought to speak German, Russians Russian, et cetera. Giant step forward for immersion especially for non-fantasy games.

Dubs usually mean that some of the content has been altered, that's why you're never gonna hear a Naruto character curse in America. With subs you get a better translation along with some hints at learning the language.

I don't have a major preference. If there's an official dub that doesn't make major edits, I'll watch it, but otherwise I'll settle for subtitles. Those subtitles that peculiarly leave half of the words in Japanese anyway can skedaddle, though. (I don't care if there's no exact translation for honorifics, a good translation can find a way to deal with them.)

Sub. Unless the dub is really, really good and fits the story of the anime (if it's set in England for example it makes sense that the characters speak english). Subbing is the norm in my country when it comes to foreign movies, so I can both read and follow the action at the same time.
