I personally prefer dubbing. Through reading the subtitles, I usually end up missing what's going on in the show. Not to mention some sub translations are kind of awkward to read.

Dubbed is preferable in my opinion. In a medium that's both visual and auditory, it's just less enjoyable if one of the elements is effectively missing (can't understand the language, it might as well be a silent film).

Watched plenty of anime with subtitles, but I'll often wind up missing important dialogue or visual cues and have to re-watch in order to fill in the blanks.

I still don't understand the many people I've known who get up in arms over the English voice actors sounding different than the original language voice actors. It's scary seeing someone rant religiously about their entertainment, completely disregarding the fact that the story was unchanged.

Dubbed, unless the dub is exceptionally bad. Dubbed also allows me to have the show going, not be watching, yet still keep track of whats going on, because tones of voice only go so far. Also, Japanese have weird onomatopeic sounds, like "EHHHHHHHH" and ""Ah-ha" (with the head falling to the shoulder), these grate on me.

Honestly, I believe alot of people go for subs in an attempt to hide their powerlevels from their friends and families.

I've always been the kind of person to watch shows in their original language with subtitles. For me, dubs detract from the experience.

FMA, Helsing and even DBZ's dub are at least somewhat standable (they are the better ones out there), but I generally prefer it subbed; There are some jokes and references that dont exactly transition all that good into dub sometimes. Only show so far that I have seen where I prefer dub over sub is prolly DBZ, goku's voice sounds way...WAY to young for the character...to an annoying extent.

I won't even bother trying a dubbed show, unless I absolutely cannot get it with subtitles. Dubbing is often pretty poor quality and always loses so much that is in the tone of voice of the original. I read fast anyway, so I only have to glance at the subs and can spend most of the time watching the action on screen.

Dubs also often do more than just translate the lines, they sometimes re-write lines to make them more localised for their intended audience which can mean missing out on further insights into the culture of the original language. Subbing usually leaves this intact.

Finally, dubs are usually American, which may be fine for US audiences but I find the American accents horribly grating.

It depends. If the voice acting is at least mediocre, then I'll watch dubbed. Death Note had an outstanding dub (some argue that it's better than the original Japanese acting), and I feel like the subbed version would have been much worse.

If it's atrociously bad (Code Geass, for example), then I'll watch the subbed version.

id much rather get a new interpretation of a series' voices than have to read everything. it not lke the new voices are bad (usually) or anything, just different.

Subbed, always. The original characters were chosen for a reason, and especially for anime, I feel dubs take away from the original ..mood(?not sure if that's the word I'm looking for) of the story. I'm a fast reader, so I don't find it distracting from what is happening on screen.

As time moves on, I find myself weaning myself off of subs and moving towards raw. I'm more of a sub kind of guy, though.
