Just out of curiosity, which does the escapist prefer?
I prefer headphones as they damage your hearing less and I find them more comfortable to wear, though they are less convenient.
So what about you?

Despite how much it pisses me off when the ear bud wires break, I still buy them over to headphone. I hate it when my ears are hot from listing music with the headphone.

Earbuds on my MP3, headphones for my computer.

Headphones are just way too uncomfy for when I go to the gym, which is where I use my MP3 the most. Plus they cancel out a lot more noise and when you're on your bike riding alongside a busy road, that's pretty dangerous.

However, I love that same quality when I'm playing games or watching a movie, so I'll use them then.

Headphones, earbuds are pathetic and poorly designed.
My Seinnheiser pair begs to differ.

Prefer headphones as they're a lot more comfortable and earbuds hurt my ears.

Bit of both. When I'm out and about it's earbuds for my iPod, cancels a lot of background noise and means the people around me on the bus don't have to deal with my music. At home I'll wear headphones, much comfier and my parents aren't woken up by the sounds of warfare and general slaughter coming from my TV.

Even though I seem to have a habit of breaking them by accident I would go with headphones, earbuds do not sit well in my ears one bit

As a musician, I HATE the way most ear buds affect the music. It makes it treble-y and sucks out most of the lower pitched tones. And everything sounds different overall.

I always go out and buy myself a nice pair of bulky, ear-surrounding headphones.

Both. I like earbuds because they're easy to store should you want to but them away. I can shove my iPod and earbuds into my pockets when I no longer need them. As for headphones, they're nice when you don't want to have earbuds in your ears for a long period of time (which can begin to ache even if you're used to earbuds). I'll usually wear mine whenever I don't plan on putting away my music player (like my iPod or laptop). Plus headphones usually give you a better quality of music than earbuds.

Earphones, I tend to use. I never spend more than £6 on a pair, they break too easily, and proper headphones won't fit in a pocket.

I prefer big DJ and studio headphones more because they have better sound quality, last longer(except for shitty designer headphones like Skullcandy or whatever) and don't make my ears hurt after wearing them for a while. Audiotechnica are my current pair.

I rarely travel with them, so mobility isn't a factor.

Headphones are good for the computer and indoors, but earbuds outside, mainly because everyone I know who wears headphones out doors is a gigantic douche.

I like headphones myself. I have this really nice pair I got for Christmas a while back, and I have not used any others since. I find them much more comfortable than earbuds, and they seem to break less easily.
