Just doing my bit.

I need to find that book on transition towns. It told us when, why and where we're fucked, and used brilliant reasoning. And whether or not global warming's our fault, we can't have diesel and food, y'know. We'll run out of affordable buried oil in ten or so years, and you can't run a car on coal. However you look at it, we're going to have to do SOMETHING, sooner or later. And, just a feeling, but when (or if. None of this is a precise science) famine, drought, flooding and freezing happen, the people who said "I don't care" still won't, personally I wouldn't try and convince them otherwise.

Oh, and we'll run out of uranium to use as well. Sorry to piss on the parade, folks.

I think people are worrying a bit too much here, they seem to not realize how large the earth is, and besides, haven't you seen all the pro environmental groups out there, sure they're very faggotty but they are doing things to make the world a clener, greener place. Besides, I am sick, to, death about hearing of the goddamned environment, and how much shit the earths in, and how much humanity sucks. GET OVER IT!

I believe that a world war will began because of disagreement over saving the environment, resulting in a nuclear end to humanity. It's a fitting, ironic end to our race.

Might be a little hard. It never snows here anymore. Well, okay it does, just in March (this is Derbyshire, England by the way).

But yes, I agree. A depressing number of environmentalists are unlikable and need to shut the hell up. Well, except the ones who're funny for it.

Oh. You're one of those people.

Climate change is a natural phenomenon and can't be stopped. End of story.
It takes thousands and thousands of years for this cycle- ice age to thawing
and we realise that we have only been burning greenhouse gases for just a couple hundred years
it is a bloody big coincidence that it is happening specifically now- when we are putting all that stuff into the atmosphere

and it's effects can be reduced enough to stop serious damage

I'm with Naturalized on this one. Global warming is a bunch of bullshit designed by the global elites to shackle everyone on the planet with a Global carbon tax. Hope you're ready to pay up for breathing...

About the effects being minimalised.

No they can't. Even if we stop now, right now, everything goes, we've still made a 0.8oC increase. Not much, but at 2oC most, if not all of the permafrost's gone. Bearing in mind the temperature'd still go up by 0.2oC whatever because of some clever scientific reason, hence everyone who said it wasn't our fault will assume it was inevitable anyway and get to act self righteous. Hippies never win (speaking as a hippy).

And nothing against the chaps at the "It's a hoax crowd" but, as someone who thinks is is happening, god you depress me.

there are a million things the government can make up taxes on, there is so much proof pointing towards it, co2 is a greenhouse gas and guess what- deforestation, factories, power stations produce it
sure noone likes taxes but if global warming is a conspiracy then the government will have to have spent a helluva lot making it this well known

And hey, we like hospitals, right?

People complain about shit buses, trains, hospitals, schools etc, and then have the sheer audacity to ***** about taxes.

Day by day hundreds sq miles of forests are being cut down.
And it is being renewed. We figured out a long time ago that if we cut down trees, they are goind to run out. So what do we do? Plant more trees. The entire paper industry is self-sustaing, and never runs out of trees. Been doing this for over a century.

Also, are you aware that Forest fires destory millions of acres of Forests in the U.S. every year? It is in fact necessary for this to happen. Part of the natural cycle.

Now, if you are referring to rainforest, then that is cut down mostly for cattle and crop land. This needs to stop.

If driving my car so much increases global warming, why the hell is it too cold to cycle anywhere?

Frankly speaking, I don't particularly believe that humans, as such, had a lot of impact. I am leaning towards the idea that all of it is a natural process, effected by hundreds of various conditions, and what we do won't change a lot.

Now, I'm all for minimising usage of resources and increasing the output, as any capitalist is, but it's just not going to happen without making even more effective production machines and eliminating humans from the equation, thus removing risk of human error.

We are living in the age of the atom, and what we need for power, is nuclear. We need to build as much as we can of miniature and thorium-using reactors that emit very little waste. This, of course, has to be a progression as suddenly giving way to one form of energy would collapse an economy. Moving slowly from oil-based to nuclear-based would benefit us all in the long run.

The means of ecological living, such as recycling, are awful at best. Recycling is an expensive and costly process, besides that, only around 25% of all trash reach recycling centres. For this to work, we need a system that recycles an item for less money than is used to make one. Then we can use it.

As for alternative energy, it's bull cookies. Wind power is not only not good to use in most countries, but is also very disturbing to local wildlife. Plus, it completely ruins the look of countryside/sea. And it's, again, conditional. Very expensive too and they need to be VERY tall. Sun? Conditional and extremely expensive. Water? Barely effective and ruins the wave patterns, disturbing both wildlife and the natural order.

But nuclear fuel's gonna run out too...

And hey, what about transport? A nuclear generator on the back of a car doesn't strike me as a terribly good idea.

Oh. You're one of those people.

Actually, until human industry took off it was abnormally stable and we prospered as a species, now we've re-released the carbon, it has started up again.
We've undoubtably affected out planet.

Reference. References are your friends. I don't have an opinion on the issue, as I can't find study references for, well, ANY of it.

Hmm... the only way I can see of saving the planet is to kill off every person. How's that idea?
Would have been so much better if humans never learned how to make CHOICES. Think about it. Humans are the only creatures that can go up to a horse and decide whether to eat it, ride it, sell it, or worship it.

omg... I'm tired of all these environment things! global warming is natural it has happened before and it will happen again there is nothing we can do except shoot up the inevitable!
