if easy-normal-hard. and if all are available HARD, if not, highest possible. Except with GodofWar (1 2 and 3). they are unbeatable for me on anything harder than normal.

I almost always start my first playthrough on normal, and persevere through to the end even if I find it difficult. I find it's more personally rewarding than playing on easy the first time.

I will always play a game on normal, or at least start it on normal. If I find it too hard or too easy and I can switch midgame then I'll alter it to what I need. Simple as?

I usually start on normal. If I enjoy the game, I might take it up to hard. Usually after running through on Normal Hard is not that hard. I played Uncharted on Normal the first time. Then, I played on Hard, and got the Trophy for killing 75(?) enemies without dying. Which I thought was funny that I didn't get on Normal...

I alllways played on normal, action games mainly, but started playing rpgs, to get something new and interesting and a few times I had to tone it down to get through somewhere
like dragon age, I'm at half but turned easy on like 4 times already

I put the game to Easy if i want to get through the story but become bored with the game's mechanics themselves. Happened on Dragon Age: Origins, which technically was brutally hard on Normal anyway.

Also, you know how Normal is supposed to be the "difficulty the dev intended the game to be"? Well I hate games where playing on Normal makes the game so easy that you don't even PLAY it properly (I AM LOOKING AT YOU UBISOFT!)

I always give the same answer. I don't play for the challenge most of the time. I play to offset frustration from every day life. So easy difficulty for me :)

I always do my first playthrough on easy and 90% of the time its also the last one. Unless the game can have different endings.

You know, I usually only played on Easy, because I went for the story and the bigger picture. Gameplay was secundary for me.
But then I played Mass Effect, which was just too easy. So I played it on the maximum difficulty and still finished without challenge. So nowadays I play harder difficulties. I guess Bioware's worst game was good for something.

Funny thing about that is that if you finish Jade Empire on easy and continue the character on hard, it's almoast impossible!!

Eh, I had to except the fact, along time ago, that just because i really enjoyed playing videogames, that didn't automatically make me GOOD at it. I don't seem to have the natural skills some people do, people like my younger brother who seems to be able to catch on and go right to "insane hard" mode almost right off the bat.

So, once i accepted the fact that i typically "suck" when i start playing a game, my gaming expearince improved. LOL. I start at normal. If the game is just too hard to make any headway i drop it to easy now a days, and play. I typically have fun, assuing it's a fun game to begin with, and as i learn, i can up the difficulity curve, sometimes maxing it out in games i really like. I can beat Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 on insanity, with any class now. Infact, anything lower then hardcore feels to easy and it's no fun. But that's NOT how i started. LOL.

So yeah. I'll use easy. Frustration isn't fun, and gaming is ment to be fun. And once i get some expearince, i up the diff, and go from there.

Depending on the game, my favorite thing to do is set it on the highest difficulty, beat it, and them wade through the useless minions on the easiest setting. I dunno why, it just amuses me.

Survival horror is the only genre where I start either on easy or the hardest mode available depending on how masochistic I'm feeling. Any other genre starts on normal and gets gradually wound up as I gain experience.

If its a COD game I play through on veteran to save me the bother of going back and replying it on the hardest difficulty. Though it takes at least three days for me to complete the campaign.

Usually I reserve the easy difficulty for when a game is to overly hard, is to damn frustrating to play on normal or I can't be bothered to change it. Also sometimes I start a new game on easy to prepare myself for a extremely hard run through.

But all the other times its normal difficultly for me!

I always play through on easy the first time to get a feel for it and collect anything. Then the second time through I go through on a more difficult level.

I always start with the hardest difficulty then tone it down as necessary.
I want a game to challenge me...I don't like to be able to run through a game, I want it to take a while.
A second playthrough is hardly ever as much fun as the first for me.

Depends on the game. I almost always hit normal when I start, but if the game gives me trouble on normal I'll crank it down to easy. If its too easy on normal I'll crank it up similarly.

I always do the first play through on Easy, then work up the difficulty settings from there...

Just seems to make sense.

I did it way back. Playing with 20 keys and micromanagement in realtime is normal for me now. Nowadays I even start on "hard" instead of normal, even if it's a new game (if that option is possible). I guess I adapt to the challenge.
