I don't really mind them.
Most of them I have a good conversation with in groups anyway.
Or just continue posting "DAMMIT *insert name here" at each other.

When I get a friend request, I do my happy dance. To the tune of "Take On Me".
If I add you, would you record that and send it to me?
Quite possibly. I may even get drunk and do my "extremely happy dance".
Of course, I'll need to find a camera that will behave itself.

I have only added 2 friends, one of them was a friend in real life who joined me joining here, who no longer goes to the forums after a whopping two posts. The other was someone who read a comment I made on American Dad! waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back and added me to tell me to join the user group.

Yeah, I'm popular.

What's wrong with being Scottish hmmmm?

what did them being scottish have to do with anything D:
It's not that they were Scottish, it's that they were Scottish and twelve. I found their voices unbearable.

Any squeaky regional accent will irritate me, but it just so happened the three twelve year olds that were on my friends list happened to be Scottish :p
I have a "squeaky regional accent". My voice is high pitched as fuck & unfortunately there's no way my voice is gonna get deeper due to a lack of... well... balls.
Would that mean I'd get deleted on that basis?

I'll usually add people for something they said, which interested me Or their avatar. A few of my friends were gained from the forum games. But the rest of them added me, which I always accept. Besides even if these strangers do cause me trouble, then I will just delete them and report their actions to one of the mods. Although I've never had to do such a thing yet.

I check out people's profiles after they add me, and if I like what I see I'll add them. I usually only end up talking to my friends at the Socialist Gamers Guild a whole lot, but there are others I still talk to.

I made a topic about this as well a long time ago, probably just around this time about a year ago.
A textbook case of great Pandas think alike? :p
Haha Indeed. I've always liked your avatar anyway, really suits the username.

I've just accepted whatever came in.
I suppose most of them has been cause someone found one of my posts interresting or just lulz enough to deserve more than a quote. So i just take it as a compliment and thats pretty much it.

I haven't been a member of The Escapist for a terribly long time, but ever since I started to be a bit more active on the forums, I've been recieving friend requests from complete strangers.

Now, normally I don't mind friend requests. There are a number of people I never even met in real life but who I still consider to be my friends. It's one of the coolest things about the internet, if you ask me. It's for this reason that I pretty much always accept those friend requests and add them to my friendlist as well.

But out of all the friend requests I've had on The Escapist, only one of them even bothered to send a message to talk to me about why they wanted to be my friend, and even that one only sent me one line of text and has never contacted me ever since. That's hardly what I call 'friendly'. I get the feeling that most of the people friending me only do so to get the 'X friends added' badge, which is pretty damn sad.

I haven't sent any friend requests myself because I don't feel I know anyone on this board well enough to call my friend, but if I did I'd at least send them a message explaining to them why I'd like to be their friend, and if they were interesting enough for me to want to befriend I'd certainly not add them to the list only to completely ignore them afterwards.

What's your opinion on this curious behaviour, forumites?
If eight months is a terribly long time, then how long is a year and a half? *scoff*

Anyway, even though I know people on the Escapist, I refuse to talk to them or befriend them, because I think it defeats the purpose of the Escapist. I come here to escape from my life, therefore I don't want to incorporate any elements of it. I only befriend strangers.

Bah-humbug. I've been active on the forums too, and even though I haven't added almost anyone myself and all of them have added me, I don't get friend requests that often.

I'm ashamed to admit that I had a phase where I added members just because their username had 'squirrel' in it. I'm sure I had some kind of vague plan.
