I love getting friend requests. It means somebody cares enough about you to separate you from the rest of the masses, oftentimes due to you saying something funny enough.

Well, I have practically never had a friend request from anyone over the Escapist.

But I've had a turn in pickiness on my XBL friends list. I recently defreinded three people for being twelve and Scottish.

what did them being scottish have to do with anything D:

OT: I don't really mind it to be honest. I've been desensitised to the fact that most people won't try and speak to me after sending me a friend request due to bebo & myspace...
on my bebo I have 800-ish friends and I only know about 200 of them. The rest have added me to bump up their friend count by the looks of things and try get picture comments for an ego stroke.

So I don't really care when someone adds me as their 'friend' on anywhere without saying a word to me. Sure, I love it when I get a wee message from them saying "oh I thought your post on 'whatever thread' was amazing, it made me laugh/smile/whatever. you seem pretty cool, hence the friend request". or something along those lines. But I'm not gonna be heart broken if they don't send one.

Seriously, for a terribly long time? Gezz what does that say about me.

It's not most people can be real friends with a faceless anonymous person. The friend requests are more for keeping track of posters that tend to make an impression in some may. Mostly by being funny, but often enough by proving themselves to be fairly intelligent and well reasoned.
