An ex-boyfriend of mine used to like me to smack him around a bit. I was always really afraid to hurt. I don't enjoy causing pain to other people; however, I do enjoy some pain for pleasure. I like both giving and receiving bites (nothing to draw blood mind you) and some choking. Part of me feels creepy for admitting that, but fuck it.
I used to have a girlfriend that always wanted me to hurt her. I have no problem with hurting myself, but other people.. I can't make myself do it. She also apparently got off on making her boyfriends angry.
I just feel so guilty causing anyone pain even if I know it isn't actually hurting them.

I'llbe honest, Yes. I used to be addicted to self harming. My left arm is completly disfigured because of it... it's the stupidest idea in the world.
That may be due to you doing it wrong. If you manged to disfigure your arm isn't that your fault?
Of course it's my fault, I didn't realize I implied otherwise. I used to cut deep, very deep.. And I've gotta live with these permanent scars forever. And how on earth can you self-harm "wrong"?
I thought you were calling self harm for pleasure stupid. Its not really, but you have to know what your doing so you don't injure yourself. Its less about harm and more about the pain involved.

I don't know much about self inflicted pain, but I had a girlfriend who was very rough on me when we got intimate. But she manged to have her fun without accentually hurting me. Good times.

I don't like pain, so no.

I can see why people do it though. I have a few friends who used to drop heavy objects on their feet. They stopped when one broke a few toes when dropping a heavy piece of Iron on his foot. I don't like it personally but whatever floats your boat, I guess.

There should be a third option, "not intentionally", that's what I'd pick unless occasional minor bruising from tying counts. I tried hitting and biting myself a few times while... well you know, and it barely did anything for me, and I got nothing from pulling my hair or digging in my nails. So I guess there should be a fourth option, "only while experimenting".

Not for pleasure exactly, but I sometimes end up harming myself just because. There isn't any real reason behind it, I just do. Pain isn't really pleasurable, but a small dose of it sometimes makes me feel a bit better.

In essence, it is fairly stupid. That's what I think anyway. But what can I say, I like to bleed. not alot of ways to do that without scarring.

No, it takes me out of the mood. I guess biting isn't so bad but anything other than that I just don't do. If I had a GF that was into that sort of thing I'd try it for her though.

I don't know if I would call it pleasure, but I would long board or surf in really dangerous areas (longboard down massive hills with hairpin turns, surfing near rocks/sunken boats, etc) so that when I injured myself, and hopefully lived, I would have a cool scar and story. I have the scars, but I'm somewhat older, and my day job requires me to be in peak physical condition, so having an exploded patella or a mangled spine doesn't mesh well with my life style.

Also, that was just really, really stupid of me, but hey, I was young. We are allowed to be stupid and wreckless, right? And the reason cigarettes burns give you a high is because it releases pain relieving endorphins into your bloodstream, a fight reaction of your body to reduce pain and allow you to function under stress... My advice - stop doing that. Now. If you want a rush, go cliff diving, or skiing, or surfing, but stop mutilating yourself. Trust me when I say it, the scars aren't worth it, and future jobs will kick your ass to the curb at interview time when they see unmistakable cigarette burns on your arms.

Well, when I sleep I rest my head on my arm, which makes waking up with a numb arm/hand rather common.

It's not for pleasure per se, but if I wake up with a numb hand I will often throw it against the headboard of my bed.

When I was a kid, I used to break the electric spark dealy from lighters and spark it into my nerves at the wrist.

My left forearm is covered in lighter burns
I used to cut myself occasionally with a special knife I keep in my cupboard
There is nothing in the world as enjoyable as being Bitten. Nothing.

I enjoy sticking cigarettes out on my body, I find it gives me a great rush and puts me on a high for an hour at least. I was wondering if anybody else had similar experiences? I realise this will probably sound a bit weird but we are on the internet so its not like anyone you know (for most of you) will find out. And if not, would you ever consider it, or indulge in letting a romantic partner do it to you?
I've never been much of a masochist despite some interest in BSM.

To each their own however.

I will however say that when it comes to masochism there is a differance between pain and hurt. I think a lot of the cutting people do, and things like burning yourself with cigarettes is going a little too far due to the potential for permanant damage, though I suppose for those who do that it might be part of the thrill.

In all honesty most people I've known who do what you talk about on their own don't do it because of a high, but largely because they have been hurt so much one way or another that it makes them feel powerful to be able to control the pain as they put it.

Eh, not really for pleasure. Only thing is, when I get mad, I tend to hit my head on things. Broke my keyboard once.

No, I've never considered pain pleasurable. I know it is sometimes going to happen.. like when my then girlfriend accidentally headbutted me in the nose and nearly broke it. But that's different.

I've never harmed myself for pleasure in the ways probably described in this thread. I probably never will.

Bleeding? Are we talking about the same thing? I don't think we are anymore.
