Poll: Evil Shepard or Good Shepard

I was all Paragon in ME1, but I used some of the Renegade options in ME2. If I was able to backstab a guy that I'd have to kill anyway, I did it. I still had Paragon maxed out, as far as I remember.

Isn't it more like good Shepard or asshole Shepard?

Yup, pretty much.

Paragon because scarred up Shepard is hideous. BioWare did the same thing with KoTOR.

I thought that was just KotOR2.

I choose both paragon and renegade depending on which I think is the best option. Punching that damn reporter for example.

I played both, an found the evil one wasn't really evil, i like how yahtzee described it, its Captain Picard vs Dirty Harry. For the Record i guess i put more effort in my good path, i feel my albino shepherd would be a good guy after all teasing he got for being something I spent a good 2 mins to make.

Well I play as a paragon but I think you need to rename this to "Pussy Shepard or Agressive Asshole Shepard".

As far as I'm concerned, Renegade Shepard is still basically good. Just sort of... anti-hero-ish, without actually going to the lengths that say, Frank Castle goes to on a regular basis. It's more of a question of "lawful or chaotic" than "good or evil".

I agree, it's more like Lawful Good vs. Chaotic Good, you are still playing the hero, even if renegade Shepard is kind of a prick.

I always play Paragon on my main playthroughs.

Well this is unfair. You say "both" in the original post, but you don't have a both option in the poll.

OT: I've done one of each, and a mixed Shep who dabbled in both.

I was paragon the first time and even when I tried to play a Renegade character, I couldn't bring myself to be completely douchey and had about a 75-25 split in favor of Renegade.

In fact, when I played as Paragon, it was split the other way in favor of Paragon. I don't like to be one or the other all the time, as some situations call for being an ass and some call for a more delicate touch.

Maybe next time I think up a better backstory for Shepard so it'll be more consistent.

I generally choose paragon. I occasionally choose the renegade options, but they often seem to be judgemental, occasionally murderous, and generally ass-like for no good reason.

Having just watched Trigun, I can honestly say my Shepard was more of a Wolfwood than a Vash The Stampede. I enjoy being a good guy, saving people, helping my crew, and I try to tackle every situation diplomatically. But sometimes there are just some situations where somebody has to die, deserves a harsh word or you really should make the first move. I was mostly paragon, I got the bar full, but some renegade did sneak in there.

As an asides, It's nice to see such a high paragon percentage. From what I've seen of the comics paragon Shepard seems to be the canon.

I actually have serious moral issues being evil in games.
Fallout New Vegas? I picked the Good Nature trait so I could point at my character and say "She's a good girl!"
Lord of the Rings: Conquest? Finished Rise of Sauron campaign, listened to Hugo Weaving telling me what an utter bastard I am, and thought "Did I win or lose?"

Mass Effect 1 and 2 (and 3 eventually I suppose)?
I was nice to everyone. Even the reporter who said I was a git for saving the Council. I came very close to giving her a fist to the face, but I resisted. Then Jack and Mordin died because I wasn't Paragon enough to make Jack forgive me for siding with Miranda. Facepalm.

I had to imagine a number of values and morals when I played so at times I ended up picking the paragon choice and other times I went with the renegade choice. I also think that sometimes these aren't exactly labeled well as there are times when there is no "good" choice.

The morality in the Mass Effect games isn't really good vs evil. It's more idealism vs cynicism.

Personally, I preferred paragon for the most part, though I've done multiple playthroughs of both games as both paragons and renegades.
