I misread the original post. I thought he said to include them. No, I don't think the poster should change the question completely, however, I feel it would be... more fair if the OP had at least given more examples. Oblivion and Fallout 3 are not the best examples of the Elder Scrolls and Fallout, respectively. Granted, Oblivion was much better than Fallout 3 in respect to how it played to it's predecessors. Does that mean Fallout 3 is a bad game? Not at all. I, personally, didn't like it, but I can see why others did. Yes, the question would probably yield completely different answers, had he chosen to include the games that made Oblivion and Fallout 3/NV possible, I will admit that.Jaranja said:

when i first bought New Vegas and instantly sunk a few days worth of gametime into it
i thought "this game is brilliant, but not much separates it from fallout 3"
it was only after i then started to replay fallout 3 that i realised all the little changes New Vegas made
i began to appreciate the new abundance of sidequests
the fact i barely waded through a single underground tunnel (excluding vaults)
the fact the quests have dozens of ways to be solved now rather than just either good: save the guy, or bad: kill the guy
the fact there are four ways to complete the game for replay value
the fact you can gamble
the simple fact it's actually possible to fill every stat to 100 now
the most obviously and importantly of all, the writing has elevated and become incredible.
such as when you work for Mr. House, the game is so clever it never really lets you know if he's good or evil
when you work for the NCR you assume you're doing the right thing, but little quests and the occassionally morally questionable thing makes you wonder 'are they perhaps the bad guys?'
even caesars legion the OBVIOUS evil faction
once you work for them you start to see things their way. you realise they want the same fundamentals as any other group. except mr house and yes man both just want to own the strip and be rich, leaving you to wonder wheather the horrifically black and foul Caesars legion have just had a bad press and in fact would be much much better for the mojave than anyone else
despite the bugs (which frankly i can live with) New Vegas isn't just the best of these three games

F1 and 2 and Morrowind are all fantastic games but they are dated now, some of the mechanics in them feel antiquated and clunky compared to the new ones.
That said, Morrowind's levelling system was a hundred times better than Oblivion's, and Fallout 3 is an amazing game but not a good sequel to the first 2, in my view it should have been released as Fallout: Capital Wasteland and New Vegas should be (edit) called Fallout 3.
well, yes, if you'd read my other posts, you'd know I was referring to the games as parts of their series. I think Fallout 3 might have been enjoyable, had it not been a Fallout game. That said, I had been anticipating Fallout 3 for YEARS after playing the first two, and it was a serious letdown. I'll have to play NV if it's better as a Fallout game.MiracleOfSound said:

fallout new vegas is on top for sure, that game easily bumps up every single good thing FO3 did and more, it actually had a story (dont give me that crap, the FO3 main storyline was a piece of trash, liam neeson is the only thing that saved it. liberty prime was his protege)
the amount of content and fun in that game is gonna have me satisfied for years.
next would be oblivion (hopefully skyrim ousts this and new vegas, im pumpeeddd to see the upcoming videos for that), i love the fantasy setting, and oblivion delivers that with an awesome open world, yet fun filled adventure. the main storyline is pretty crap, but the factions and sidequests actually make up for it, along with the world not looking like a fucking steamrolled turd like fo3 does, so with magic, swords/shields, and bow + arrow, its alot of fun and its endless on what you can do.
so in short
fallout new vegas

snacks
toilet paper
fallout 3
the amount of content and fun in that game is gonna have me satisfied for years.
