I don't like reading it, but mostly because I don't really enjoy reading fiction to begin with. Then, you take people who are usually less skilled that the actual people writing stories, and you've just got something that isn't all that enjoyable.

Some is good, most is not.

So yeah, I like fanfiction.
But only if it's good.

Depends, do these qualify as Fan-fiction?

If so, then done right (like my links) they can be awesome.

Pretty much what the others said. I read very little, a lot less nowadays, I'll even admit I got... I don't know, 2/3 through my own before losing interest and starting original work.

No John, you are the demons.

John's a hero, and nobody will ever know.

By the way, does anyone think Kinect looks awesome too?
Kinect was kind of a waste. Nothing worthwhile was accomplished with the impressive technology it offered.
Thats true, I dont really see myself diving behind my couch while playing Halo. -_- BUT it's an awesome idea... that probably wont get anywhere for like 10 years. Oh wellz.

I was gonna mention Full-Life consequences, simply as a so-bad-it's good kind of thing. That is comedy GOLD right there!

Many, in fact id say most fanfic writers tend to lose the crucial subtext and character building of what it is they are writing about, plus they make additions or alterations to that universe to suit their own wants or desires, despite the fact that they never really fit in.

Most of it is really, really dumb.
But, sometimes they manage to tell a truly compelling story with characters in a way I've never considered before.

Not often, but sometimes.

As a general rule, no, I don't like it much. There's an extent to which I feel like you can lose some of the original author's meanings with a fanfiction.

Except this fanfiction piece, it's the most brilliant work of fanfiction I've ever read. Don't know who the author is, the title is DOOM: Repercussions of Evil.

John Stalvern waited. The lights above him blinked and sparked out of the air. There were demons in the base. He didn't see them, but had expected them now for years. His warnings to Cernel Joson were not listenend to and now it was too late. Far too late for now, anyway.
John was a space marine for fourteen years. When he was young he watched the spaceships and he said to dad "I want to be on the ships daddy."
Dad said "No! You will BE KILL BY DEMONS"
There was a time when he believed him. Then as he got oldered he stopped. But now in the space station base of the UAC he knew there were demons.
"This is Joson" the radio crackered. "You must fight the demons!"
So John gotted his palsma rifle and blew up the wall.
"HE GOING TO KILL US" said the demons
"I will shoot at him" said the cyberdemon and he fired the rocket missiles. John plasmaed at him and tried to blew him up. But then the ceiling fell and they were trapped and not able to kill.
"No! I must kill the demons" he shouted
The radio said "No, John. You are the demons"
And then John was a zombie.

I quite enjoy reading fanfiction. There are some very talented writers out there and it's fun to see where people take established characters.

My favorite is still the Unacceptable Sitch saga by Allaine on FanFiction.net

I don't think it's pointless. It's a good way of developing writing skills.

Plus sometimes it just helps to rewrite a scene you felt someone else got horribly wrong. For instance, the scene in ME2 in which I first started to romance Garrus was less romance and more a request for sex. I was almost furious about it since I've literally been in love with Garrus since the first game, and I suddenly had this nearly uncontrollable urge to write a fanfic (something I hadn't done it about 8 years) of that scene and do it properly. Or at least what I considered to be properly.

I enjoy it, but (and wow do I feel like a sheep here) only if it's done well (baaa baaa) that being said if it has more than one chapter then I at least give it a good shot before I go "nope this is bad"

It all depends on the author really... There's MASSIVE amounts of crappy fanfiction... But for every hundred or so pieces of shit, there is a true gem hidden away... And those gems are what make fanfiction worth reading :)
