Agreed. It has gone on for too long now, it really is abuse. They don't do anything really special with the new games, just pump the same shit out over and over and it's really sad. Also, everyone knows the new Pokemon suck compared to the originals, almost everything about these new games are pathetic.

The TV show is even worse, it's literally soulless crap. I can't believe they can get away with it for so long, there should be study on it to see if it cause brain damage!

I'll be the first to scorn the abominations that are the newer pokemon (They're just not as pretty..), but I personally am just fine with the series continuing.

I enjoyed pokemon growing up. Those are good memories.
They may not be exactly the same for the new kids, and I may still make "We walked uphill both ways to find a Chansey in my day, and we were happy if it waited one turn before it ran away!" jokes, but at least the young'ins get something vaguely similar to the games I loved.

Other M, and the new zelda game looks like crap: i was very sad on both accounts. Other M was supposed to be my big "look forward too"

Ok, Other M is looking like a stumble, but not for gameplay reasons. Mainly it's because they've tried to give Samus a voice and have completely fucked it up by making what I figured who be a badass Riley from Aliens type character into a stupid blond anima *****.

But the next Zeldas looking pretty good from what I've seen so far.

Both Pokemon and Mario need to be stripped down to there basic frames and rebuilt from the ground up.
This would be a great way to keep the franchise alive and keep people happy.
Pokemon has basically stayed the same for the most part since 1998 And Mario's last innovation that changed the game play was in 1996.

But they won't so will be trying to catch 'em all (again) and collecting 120 stars (again) Until our children's children commit suicide.

You actually said it; Pokemon is one of the most marketable franchises Nintendo offers. They aren't going to kill any of their biggest earners. I agree that the games are cookie-cutter. Turn-based battles revolving around a kid traveling his/her Nation, listing all of the Pokemon s/he comes across and single-handedly taking out an evil organization (even if the Elite Four's Champion helps out sometime). Pokemon Ranger changes things up a bit but, I've only seen videos and screen-shots (never actually played that one). Pokemon Snap seems to have been a failed experiment but it was still fun in it's own way.

As for the cartoon, the same can be said of just about any other children's show ever. Blue's Clues, Arthur, Sailor Moon, Sesame Street, Disney cartoon movies (like Sleeping Beauty and Lady and the Tramp) are all for kids, were all watched by me (with almost religious fervor) and ya know what? I would be embarrassed to admit that in person without Internet anonymity. Just like Pokemon, which I also watched and loved.

If anything needs to die it's the Madden franchise.

Exactly. Samus is just another damaged emo space marine now. Also, I found the FPS mode absolutely bogus... Haven't played new Zelda so can pass judgement, but the art style looks like a mario game (what happened to twilight princess awesome?) and the gameplay looks to buggy and overly complicated (did you see him flail around on the stage in e3)

Why? Really? The style hasn't changed all too dramatically, it's still greatly catered to children, it were when we were younger, and it still is now. It's just that the nostalgia coupled along with those designs stuck to our mind, and when they grow up and see the newer ones, they gave the reaction they would've given to the first generation, if they were that age those years ago.

But, if you're really a Pokemon fan, you'll just grow to accept it, you may not like it, sure, there are always Pokemon or functions that we won't like. I can't and never will be able to stand Machamp, Hitmonlee, and Hitmonchan, they just made me cringe for whatever reason, same thing with Contests(AND NOT JUST BECAUSE I WASN'T GOOD AT THEM). As for story... Well, since the main focus was the Pokemon themselves, the story sort of takes a backseat and lets your fairly smoothly cruise along to the elite four while setting you up with a legendary and smacking some evil team boss around, though... I'm fairly intrigued by Black and White, N and Team Plasma remind me of PETA for some reason, should be fun.

Speaking of Black and White... Black version gets Black City? Oh no, there won't be controversy when it hit's North America at all... I'm serious, it's Pokemon, there probably won't be.

What people need to recognize is that this generation isn't OUR Pokemon anymore. Heck, OUR Pokemon was first and second generation for the most part. Everything after was aimed at the next generation and the generation after that. Pull a random kid and show him or her the new Pokemon. They will say they cool and or cute. That's the target audience. The fact that anyone over the age of 10 likes the games and shows is just icing on the cake.

A while ago, Little Timmy saw promotional material for a new videogame for his Nintendo DS which involved the concept of catching monsters and forcing them to murder each other for entertainment. Little Timmy anticipated the release, but then it turned out that it wasn't going to be released because some guy on a forum decided to be edgy and request that the series be discontinued.

There will always be kids like Little Timmy, who have never experienced the beloved franchises that we take for granted. When we tire of a franchise, there are countless kids looking for something new to play.
