I like Nords. I always play as a Nord. Big dudes from up in the snowy mountains wielding huge claymores. They are kinda like Tamriel barbarians, that's why I like them. Like human Orcs or something. But my favorite NPC's are Khajiit and Argonians, Khajiit are better.

Well I see I'm the only one to choose high elf so far, but I stick by it.
My best character in that game was a high elf pure-mage.
I played with one of those babies in Morrowind. I have a thing for mages, you see. And yep, the magic just killed everything in sight. So much fun. And I never realized just how tall high elves are until I replayed with a dark elf...

Dunmer, because I love using swords and magic equally.

I've also played an Argonian, which is awesome 'cause you don't get diseases and you can breathe underwater.

Also, I decided to try out Khajiit on my most recent character. I haven't really noticed anything especially outstanding about it yet.

I always choose Orcs, because I like being a fighting bastard. And yes, with the race perks the Nord would probably be a better choice for a fighter, but I just like Orcs. I have Tolkein, Warcraft, and an influential mind to thank for that. And I mean the books, and the first Warcraft. Besides, in Oblivion and Morrowind I managed to get enough skill in all areas to complete all the quests, including the Mage Guild with an Orc who had basic working knowledge of magic. Magic is fun, but nothing feels better than smashing in a skull with an axe.

Except paralyzing the enemy with magic, and then making them die slowly with a long acting Damage Health effect.

Bosmer, I love playing as a stealthy archer assassin.

Khajiit and Argonian are a tie for a second close, the former because they also fit the stealthy role greatly while looking cool, and the latter because, as it has been said, underwater breathing and poison immunity make everything easier, and I like their character design too. The disease immunity is supposedly good, except I like vampirism and it makes it harder to become a vampire.
Vampirism was such a waste for me. Especially when you can't fast travel at day time and most of the important quest people only hang out at daytime.

Don't start me on that cure either!

Sorry about the double-post.
Both those problems are addressed by feeding regularly; you won't suffer Sun damage, so you'll be able to meet anyone at any time, you'll be able to fast travel and you'll still have some bonuses.

The only time I wouldn't feed is if I was going to do a harder quest, in which case the higher bonuses would come in handy.

Nah, hitting them in the head with an enchanted axe is funner.

I prefer Khajits. They're fast, sneaky bastards that love their Skooma...

[sub]Also, I love the way they talk.[/sub]

Nuh-uh! Using illusion magic to make them fight each other until there is one enemy left, and beating the last one dead with your fists is funnest.

Dunmer, because I like a balanced character, and they were the primary race in Morrowind, so it just sort of snowballed from there.

Bretons. A good mix of everything you need to survive.
You mean magic? Which lets you attack, defend, converse, sneak, and heal.

god...I love magic. But I just have more fun with Argonians.

Dunmer becuase: a) I played Morrowind and b) they have the best mix of buffs for a stealth Mage. Like a skirmisher but with Magic.
