Poll: Favorite Game Genre?

Just wondering what others think. Personally, I can't really say. I play RPGs, RTSes, & FPSes the most, & can't really pick a single genre to say is 'teh best evar'.

I got to say i went with they all have there pluses. But i mainly play FPS and music games myself

I like RTSRPGs like Warhammer and such.
They all have their plusses though.

I do like many genres but my personal favorite has to be FPS, mainly because they make up about 70% of the games I play.

It also contains many great titles like: Red Faction, Duke Nukem, Quake 2, Doom, Bioshock, CoD4, Rainbow 6, Turok 2, Half Life 2 (even though I personaly don't like HL2), L4D and many, many more.

I don't think anyone can say which one is "the best", but my personal favorite (at this time, I may be into RPGs or RTS next year) is FPS. I blame Call of Duty for this.

I'd have to disagree with you there, the RTS genre is full of the same retarded twitch gamers who learn the same tired old strategies as the FPS genre. The same deal is required in the majority of RTS games, speed in building your base and the same strategy, it's all about your actions becoming instinct.

Unless you are talking about very slow RTS games, but then you are talking specifics, the same as garry's mod has many (though not all by any measure) intelligent builders, the slower more tactically based RTS' are a different kettle of fish. And then you hit turn based, which obviously isn't RTS.

You can't make broad sweeping statements about genres like that, I used to have the same opinion of each of the genre, but having played the three you mentioned extensively, I see little difference between their players.
