I'm surprised at just HOW different the lists are. I'm sure they used a different source of critics, but there's still a massive difference between the lists...
Yeah really, one is full of Mario and the other is full of Tony Hawk... go figure. :p

If by "full" you mean two games, then sure.

I can't even see one game remotely associated with "the best game ever".
I can make a list big enough to use as toilet paper of games better than those!

I do loves me some Soul Calibur, that and Jet Set Radio made my Dreamcast a worthwhile purchase.

Although in saying that, there are hundreds of better games I'd probably choose over it that aren't on the list. Many of which have already been listed. Instead I shall explain why i didn't choose the others.

GTA IV - technically a great game but it was far too serious for my liking, it lacked the outright stupidness that made San Andreas brilliant. One thing I really don't like about IV is the physics. They're too realistic. I'll never forget the sinking feeling I got the first time I ran over some guy with a deep thud and watched him crumple lifelessly to the ground. This is also a reason why I love Saints Row 2, because it is more centred around having fun.

Ocarina Of Time, Metroid, and both the Galaxies - Simply, I get frustrated too easy and found myself rage quitting. I don't actually think I've completed any of these. meh.

Tekken 3 was good but not as good as SC. As a side note, I preferred Jin when he wasn't the evil overlord he is now. And Eddie Gordo's dancing is unparalled.

Uncharted 2 - *shrug* I've never played this game, so it's nothing personal. Be interested if I had a PS3 though.

Also if anyone's interested (don't worry, I know you're not), Left 4 Dead 2 and Alan Wake are currently my favourite games, especially the former's Chainsaw Massacre Mutation. So good!

Super Mario Galaxy 2, then Metroid Prime. Games knew what they were doing, and had every facet polished to a perfect shine.

2 out of 10 of about 13,000+ games...

True, but "full" still isn't the word I'd use. Both lists kinda suck anyway though...

None. That's actually a pretty god-awful list. Wait, why the hell are these the "Best Eight Ever??"

I mean...out of all of them, I suppose my favorite is...no, no I really didn't particularly LOVE any of those. I mean, I don't have a PS3 so Uncharted is out, and I wasn't a BIG fan of GTA IV, although it certainly wasn't bad. And Super Mario Galaxy was quite good, but it isn't even in my realm of favorite games of all time, and....wait......

Speaking of which, even in relation to wherever you pulled these "best games" from, why the hell out of only 8 options are 20% dedicated to the only two games in the Super Mario Galaxy subseries??

I shouldn't be so pissed off about that but I am!

I mean, if you liked the first, you liked the second, the second was more of the same anyway, but, damn! Out of only 8 options, even if Super Mario Galaxy WAS your favorite game of all time you could still ASSUME that even though only Super Mario Galaxy 2 was up there that you would click on that anyway!!

DAMNIT WHY AM I SO PISSED ABOUT THIS???

I don't like my options, but if I must choose one out of these I guess I'll go with Uncharted 2.

Jeez, I've played two of those games. GTAIV I didn't like and Ocarina of Time I only remember vaguely. I'm underwhelmed by these choices. So X-Com.

LOZ: Ocarina of Time for historic significance I guess, but most of those are only there for the sake of appeasing fanboys. Most review sites cushion reviews for a game from a series so fanboys don't start to yell at them. Don't get me wrong, there isn't anything wrong about those games, I just don't think most of them should be in the top 8.
