Either Gandalf or Aragon. Gandalf for being awesome (fighting the Bolrog while plummenting to your death like a boss!) and Aragon for being heroic (he will defend Frodo with his life) and being able to overcome his fear and doubt throughout the triliogy.

I voted Sam, cause he's an awesome true friend. Don't you lose him Samwise Gamgi.

Going by the books, I would probably say Gandalf as he has the most interesting backstory, but going by the films I would probably say Boromir, because Sean Bean is awesome.

Now he sounds like a hobbit from India.

I vote for either sam or gimli, because they're both awesome.

Such a hard choice, since they're all great. In the end, I voted for Merry & Pippin. Can't go past the loveable Hobbit rascals.

Oh yeah, watch the extended edition movie with cast commentary if you haven't. Their actors (Billy Boyd & Dominic Monaghan) are so damn funny!

Pippin. The comedy relief character with a bit of personal struggle thrown in towards the end is the perfect character in my eyes.

Gimli. No other character could pull off being a badass despite being the comic relief about 75% of the time, and only occasionally actually being badass.
Yah, he's got some of the best lines in the films... 'NOT THE BEARD! NOT THE BEARD!!'

OT: Anyway, I'm not really sure... from the films, probably Gimli for the abovementioned reasons, from the books... probably Merry & Pippin because I felt their part of the story had more 'energy' to it... *slaps self for using word in such a context*

Gandalf is the most sympathetic member of the Fellowship for me. Partly because he's always a step ahead of everyone else, but mostly because Ian McKellen's interpretation is simply perfect.

Ehm I hate to say this but shouldn't Frodo be here somewhere?

Aragon was a lot more badass in the books, like after the battle of Helms Deep, he takes the Palantir and spends a night staring into it directly facing off his will against Sauron And manages to overcome Saurons will. Also when they march towards the Black Gate at the end, and Gimli is worried that the Orcs won't take their tiny army seriously, but Legolas tells him that in the enemies eyes Aragon is worth 10,000 spearmen, especially if they think he had the ring.

As a kid of 9 years old when the first film came out my favourite character was Legolas. This was cemented even more when in the other films he had badass sequences like sliding down the stairs on that shield.

Legolas has basically influenced my nerdy life more than any other fictional character, i almost always play as a ranger or an elf if i can.

However after growing up a bit i realised that Sean Bean and Ian Mckellen are two frikkin awesome actors and they gave really good performances, aswell as being badass characters in their own right.

So basically a mix of Legolas, Boromir and Gandalf

Faramir.

I know he's not on the poll, but he's my favorite. If you watch the extended edition films, they show a lot more character exposition. In those scenes he has some very relatable struggles; his father treats clearly loves Boromir more, and Faramir tries so hard to make his father proud of him.

Daddy issues for the win.

Yeah, Faramir's my favorite character in the books.

As for the poll, I always liked Merry n Pippin best between both movies and books, though Gimli's a close second when you count the movies in.

Aragorn here. No one can beat the dunedain rangers. The best parts of both elves and men.

Voted for Legolas because I absolutely fancied him in the movies.

But actually I think it's Boromir. I hated him when I first watched the fellowship (think I was all of 12 years old lol) but now I cry every time he dies. Sean Bean is just fantastic, I'm glad he had some other scenes, the Faramir flashbacks in RotK are heartbreaking.
