I believe in the books it's picked up more upon after the two towers, the first and second books I thought focused more on the hobbits journey and then began to slide more towards Aragorns realization that he can lead and that he's actually pretty good at it.spartan231490 said:See, I had the opposite opinion. When reading the books, I felt like Aragorn's story was really the main story, and all the others were side-plots.Dectomax said:I voted for Sam. Really, the whole story is based upon Frodo and Sam. With the others being merely side plots. Though the films make it seem otherwise.
I love the bonding that happens between them, how despite the many dangers they face, they have each other. That brotherly aspect, the love and respect that is shown between them is amazing to me and the fact that Sam never once gave up hope on Frodo, was amazing. The scene that really got me in both the book and film was "I can't carry it, but I can carry YOU!" I swelled up at that.
Really, the Hobbits are my favourite characters within the film. Devilishly smart, cunning and witty creatures, that have the courage of many men twice their size.
Frankly though, i didn't really like many of the characters in LoTR. Aragorn was the only one I really liked, and I thought the rest were ok, except Boromir and Frodo, who I absolutely hated.
Maybe that's just my interpretation of it though?
