Poll: Favourive Metal Band Of All Time And Why

Eh, I like most kinds of metal. Not the biggest fan of Death Metal, but I can listen to it. My favorites have to be industrial and power metal, though.

They are the metal Alpha and Omega, and don't you dare forget it.

Honerable mention goes to Dragonforce, simply by virture of performing 'Through the Fire and the Flames' without dropping dead on the spot.

I thought they could not do that song live.

I've actually seen them live. They can do it just fine.

Oh, and I forgot to list my favorite bands earlier. Metallica, Judas Priest, Sonata Arctica, one of those.

I don't know the difference between these genres.

I like:
- Metallica (thrash)
- Cradle of Filth (melodic gothic black)
- Slipknot (nu-metal)
- Sevendust(hard rock/nu-metal)
- Korn (nu-metal)
- Mastodon (Progressive metal)
- Hatebreed (metalcore)
- Disturbed (nu-metal)
- Mudvayne (Nu-metal)

There's a lot of others, I just like cool sounding stuff, not too overboard on the screaming, but with good guitar 'thingys' and the drumming has to be top par.

i think ive justified your bands sub genres for you...

for me, i like all the genres although im not a big fan of nu-metal i can tolerate bands such as skindred and ill nino, for my favotite band however it is a draw between...

Death (death metal)
Fear Factory (industrial death)
Paradise lost (Gothic, and some times proggressive)
Devin townsend (proggressive metal)
and finally Iron Maiden (metal metal)

but i also like stuff like grindcore and groove metal as well

Anywho, protest the hero are my newest favourite band, and along with gojira make progressive metal pretty damn cool again. Machine head, Lamb of god, And older in flames (up to clayman) are also all really fucking good metal. Old soilwork is pretty classy too. Pity both those bands sound pretty dull now. At the gates had the good sense to quit while they were ahead!

Oh and for noisy angry dirty lovely noise at it's finest:

Nice, how do you like the new album?

For me I picked Progressive Metal. My favorite metal band, Meshuggah, could be called either thrash or progressive, but since most of my other favorite metal bands (Sikth, Between the Buried and Me, Cynic, Opeth, The Ocean, etc.) are also prog metal I went with that.

Death Metal was a close third, Anata, The Faceless, Necrophagist, Blotted Science are all fucking awesome.

I've recently been getting into Kamelot, which is power metal I think. I've actually been trying to find some bands that are similar, but no luck so far.
