It's against the law because he's 14. End of story. His consent is completely irrelevant because he doesn't have the right to give it. It's called statutory rape, Google it.Alumatine said:It's against the law because it wasn't consensual and it wasn't consensual because it's the law. Got that one stitched up pretty nice haven't you.
I've met some pretty insanely mature kids and some pretty stupid adults. Age isn't everything in terms of consent.
Age is everything in terms of consent. We take away that consent from the 5% of 14-year olds mature enough to handle it in order to protect the 95% of 14-year olds not mature enough. That's how society works, you give up things in order to live together peacefully.
Just like we take away the 'right' to drink alcohol from those few children mature enough to handle it in order to protect the large majority of children who aren't mature enough to treat it responsibly.
Just like we take away the 'right' to drive from those few children mature enough to handle it in order to protect the large majority of children who aren't mature enough to treat it responsibly.
Because we expect those that are mature enough at 14 to still be mature enough at 16 and with their maturity understand these things and wait two years for the common good.
