Killing things for some kind of sadistic sexual pleasure is something only a disgusting freak would do and has been the motivation of many a serial killer. So to anyone who does do this, if a serial killer is about about to kill you, don't hate him for it, he's just trying to get off the same way you do.

Woah woah woah, defended by the state you say? This is animal cruelty plain and simple, and everyone taking part in these acts can be prosecuted as such. I think that's more than clear.

Whether the videos should be made illegal or not I do not, sure, but these people crushing animals are pretty clearly violating even the most lenient of animal cruelty laws.

That said, yes of course I'm disgusted by it. Humans are weird creatures.

Since no one seems to understand, I feel I have to say it. The reason the law was considered unconstitutional was because it was far too broad and could be applied to many many unintended other things such as hunting, not due to any free speech issues. It's a really ugly fetish, to be sure. There was an attempt to legislate such works out of existence, but the law got overturned for being far too broad (to the point that someone shooting their hunting trip or a veterinary instructional video could have gotten caught under the wheels.)

On the other hand (and yes, there is an other hand), while I find the fetish loathsome, in some ways I'd prefer that people who find this sexually appealing watch videos of a few hundred animals being killed than that they kill a few thousand or million animals themselves in private for their own pleasure. If I could push a button and make this particular sexually predeliction cease to exist, that would be great (and let's get a similar button for pedophilia, while we're at it), but unfortunately the human libido doesn't work that way.

What bothers me the most about this is that these people probably go to pet stores and buy puppies for this purpose or steal people's pets. That makes the actual act even grosser. I read in the Wikipedia article of this that there's currently work going on in congress to make the videos illegal again (the original law was overturned) hopefully that one goes through.

I'm not an expert on this, but after looking up psychosis, I got the definition that it usually meant "a loss of contact with reality."
I don't think that's really a necessary requirement to have this, and I cant see why it fails to qualify as a fetish.
