My views are: A fetish is fine as long as any potential suffering or pain is inflicted on another consenting human being.

This is completely new to me. Sadly it's just another case of humans being cruel to innocent creatures. Its disgusting, but not more than the process that gets you your burger. It's the masturbation connection(wow, there's a term I never thought I'd use) which shocks people. Animals are killed in even worse fashions after having life full of torture. These people are surely sick, but look around friends. You don't have to jerk off to a disgusting video to support unimaginable horrors. These individuals have damaged psyche, but the society around us, the public mind of which they're part of, is in even worse shape.

Crushing is not a fetish. If the killing of animals gets you off, that's called psychosis; it is a sign that something is seriously wrong. Both the people doing the crushing and the ones watching it are psychotic by any psychological standard. Believe it or not, this... "activity" is an indicator for predisposition toward murder and/or serial killing. Does that mean everyone who likes a crush video will go on a murderous rampage? Of course not, any more than someone who enjoys GTA will steal cars or run over prostitutes. But, unlike GTA and violent video games, the conditions are very real.

I'm not an expert on this, but after looking up psychosis, I got the definition that it usually meant "a loss of contact with reality."
I don't think that's really a necessary requirement to have this, and I cant see why it fails to qualify as a fetish.

"Psychosis" is a catch-all term for mental problems that, as you said, involve a disconnect with reality (aka. "most of them"). Many psychoses are included under the title of "fetish" due to a rush of sexual pleasure associated with them. It would be more clear to say that it is not ONLY a fetish, BUT ALSO a psychosis.

As far as naming the specific problem, I'd have to research it further. Perhaps it's a form of necrophilia (the arousal by death, not the more common image of having sex with dead bodies), or the various death-oriented psychoses (there are several). However, I think it's a fair assumption that wanton murder of animals with no purpose other than to watch them die involves some sort of "disconnect with reality", regardless of sexual context.

The videos are probably not made where there is enforcement or laws prohibitng such acts. I know of no state in the US that would allow such videos to be made. Animal Control and the Police would be on them so fast...

Hurting animals qualifies as a predictor of further violent behaviour(in my eyes, it's already violent and cruel enough). Psychosis is a little bit old term, and to say these people are psychotic(good chance some percent of them are), you'd have to investigate their life and find out if they can 'function properly'. Psychopathology and its clases is a social construct, definition of mental ilness is derived from the definition of normality. These people probably don't lack any cognitive capabilities. It's basic morality they don't have. If you're interested in humans and fascination by death, read Erich Fromm's Anatomy of human agression.

I don't think it would be necrophilia, because the animal would still be alive through most of it.

I also don't think it would necessarily require a disconnection with reality.
It would be preferable it if it did require it in some ways, but I personally think some people are just sadistic.

This is cruelty to animals and it sickens me to the core and yet this is what people do obove us in society by crushing our hopes and dreams when times are hard and introducing new sadistic laws like ACTA to further stamp their foot down on people like us.
