Yeah, Square just specifically said they're not remaking it. They couldn't do it if they wanted to--apparently, making a game like that today would require too much work, too much time and too much money to be practical. I can believe that; look at how long it took them just to make Final Hallway XIII.burningdragoon said:So, it is beginning to look like Square-Enix is planning a remake of FF7.

I'm going to go with: I don't want it remade any time soon.

leave everything else, even the bad translations.
I always assumed that Square got a new CEO with a severe lisp, and they changed it so that it wouldn't offend him...Launcelot111 said:Also, in the spirit of changes, why did Square suddenly decide that Aeris was Aerith? (and by suddenly I mean years ago, but I just never understood why they decided Aerith was better)
Apparently 'Aerith' is supposed to sound like 'Earth', because she's an Ancient, and has a connection to the Planet and all that. It doesn't really sound that similar anyway, they're both fine.Launcelot111 said:I don't want any changes, I just want to play the thing on my computer without glitches. My old copy of the PC version is finicky as hell, so just do a modern version of that. Keep the wonderfully blocky characters, the goofy sound effects, everything. Just make the game work.

You beat me to it, everyone wants something different; voices/no voices etc. I would love lots a changes but as Tizzy said square can't make everyone happy.TizzytheTormentor said:The problem is, if Final Fantasy VII gets remade, it will be panned by fans, no matter how it is remade. It will be crushed under the weight of expectations.
While the game is fun to play nowadays, the visuals haven't aged well and the style of the game was pretty complex for the playstation, they got away with a lot of shit. Think about it, a full remake would have to completely axe the Honeybee inn scenes and the stuff involving Don Corneo, also, the funny date with Barret would be axed because Christians would scream over the implied homosexuality.
A remake will fail, It will be welcomed by some, the ones who cling to nostalgia will completely and relentlessly bash it (not to mention a bajillion threads here on how the remake sucks balls because I don't like it waaah)
Noooo, they are planning to re-release it on PC. Not remake, re-release. Same old game, same old graphics, same old everything. Just able to run on modern operating systems.kahlzun said:So, it is beginning to look like Square-Enix is planning a remake of FF7.
