I just read that in Americuh a 9 year old got a junior 12 gauge shotgun for christmas and he used it to kill his father's pregnant girlfriend...

Is that a question? In America we have guns because we are expected to be self reliant while in Europe you rely on the US to protect you from all the scary things. People abuse a right and we have laws to punish them for it. Would you feel more comfortable if the kid had burned down the house with the pregnant woman inside instead? Or would you demand that all lighters, matches and rubbing two stick together be banned?

OT: Justify the right to bear arms in the USA when the firearms murder rate is substantialy lower in countries where the average citizen cannot own a gun, and specifically handguns.

majorly simplified answer: If owning guns is a criminal act, law abiding citizens will not have them, the majority criminals however will not be stopped. Then, how do we defend ourselves in a threatening situation? I can go on if you want, thats just the one of the strongest points IMO.

Let the police handle it, and its better that less people die then that more people will feel safe with owning gun for threatening situations.

The police show up AFTER a crime happens, and then try to catch the guy.
If I own a gun, I can prevent it from happening.

Another inquiry, what's the most dangerous thing ever happened to you with firearms? Any misfires, guns breaking, etc? Y'see lots of people tell me my gun hobby is incredibly dangerous and that one day I'm going to get killed by it. I've been doing it for 11 years and I've never had a single dangerous situation. I keep my guns in tip top condition, and nothing happens unless everyone present knows everything necessary about safety.

the worst thing that ever happened to me personally? At an indoor range, I was shooting an XCR (not mine) the brass bounced off of the stall divider and went down my collar, burned like hell.
while I was at the range? some guy had a hangfire, he thought it was a jam though, turned around, sweeping his muzzle, and the round discharged into the range officer's shin, bad news all around.
