Poll: FPS of The Decade 00-09

I know it's not on the list, but I'd say Return to Castle Wolfenstein, as it's easily my favourite game of all time.

ooooh I clicked this topic with Halo in mind but, wow, Timesplitters was freakin' sweet.

The bit in Future Perfect where Cortez gets kicked in the nuts by one of his many sidekicks (Jo-Beth Casey maybe?) and briefly speaks in high-pitched squeeky voice..... I giggled like a child when I first saw that.

Wasn't there talk of a Timesplitters 4? What happened to that?

EA/Feee Radical said they had stopped producing the game for now and will continue when a game of its style (and caliber!)is demanded enough by its target audience and/or developers.

Even if the Halo series only had 1 game (Halo 2), I'd still say it was the game series of the decade.

Title says it all, the FPS is a well-known genre and home to some of the best games ever, along with many controversies and the FPS of The Decade is center to a lot of internet debate.
So Escapists of the world, what is your favorite?
I've listed series's both direct and loosely connected.
Source = Half-life, Counterstrike, Team Fortress, Portal and Left 4 Dead.

Source isn't really a series although Counter Strike may have been a mod of Half Life. Team Fortress is actually a mod of the Quake Engine originally so you can't really include it in source. You've basically thrown in every FPS series by Value in that so it doesn't really make things even.

OT: I'd say CoD was the best until MW2 came out which significantly lowered it's standing in my eyes.

I think Free Radical went into administration and got bought out by... um... er... Crytek... maybe. Crytek stopped developing TS4 and will not continue work on it until there is "sufficient industry demand".

Hmmm, there's too many games for this poll to really work.

Difficult choice. I think I'll go with CoD4. Simply because it not only broke the mould of "lets do World War II, again" but also because it was, and still is, an excellent game in its own right.

But then again, there's Half-life.

I've enjoyed quite a number of FPS's over the past decade, but very few of them have made me stop and think "This is a finely crafted work of art." like HL2 did.

gotta go with halo. original halo was the first xbox game I bought, and it blew me away. Despite what others say, I loved the story and the characters (I dare someone to say they didn't like Sgt. Johnson) and the multiplayer was some of the most fun I ever had with any game. Granted I muted all mics when I wasn't playing with friends, but that's just common sense.

They cloned Sgt. Apone. Big whoop.

Opinion noted, but I fail to see how that makes him less cool of a character.
