This has prolly been over done topic wise but i'm new to this forum so here is a quick poll to assuage my curiosity. What do you think?

How in the world can you even play fps games on consoles? last game i played ALOT was goldeneye and a bit of halo.

If you have to worry about three different axis*(xyz) of control for look with both your thumbs how are you going to press square, triangle, X, O (ps3) at the same time you look? Even with triggers...auto aim is blasphemy!

FPS on consoles is an abomination, if i had a time machine i would go back in time and prevent it from happening. Then i would go on an excellent adventure or perhaps a bogus journey.

I certainly don't hate console FPS games. I played all of the Halos, Time Splitters, etc. and never really hated the controls.

However, no matter how good the controls work on console, there's just no replacing mouse+keyboard. Not to mention the many other advantages PC games bring (adjustable graphics, modability, etc)

When you can pixel-perfect snipe someone through the eye with an analogue stick, you let me know.

I'm more comfortable with FPS on PCs, but since I no longer have a PC that can handle any real games, I've grown to love them on consoles aswell.

I find FPSes on consoles to be an oxymoron. Seriously, guys - even with aim assistance, HOW IN THE HELL DO YOU MANAGE TO AIM WITH THUMBSTICKS?! It has to take idiotic amounts of prescision. This goes doubly for multiplayer. I really, really do not understand how you manage to get decent accuracy.

And i salute you for overcoming ridiculously inconvinient control scheme.

Creates flaming between Console fanboys and PC fanboys.

Not that people are that petty......

O/T: I much prefer console FPS's as I am more used to thumb-sticks than keyboard and mouse interface

It really depends on the type off experience your after.I for one claim games like CoD work better on the consoles, because off the fast-paced nature off the game and its "casual" gameplay. If your just after a fun shooter without caring to much about "skill" and all the other rubbish, then those type of games work better on a console.

Whilst shooters like Battlefield, larger, more open games, undoubtedly work better on a PC where precision aiming and larger teams are needed for the more rewarding experience, simply because PC's can take more players.

I enjoy a good console fps, and a key thing to note: most use the trigger buttons to shoot, it's easy to control movement and camera with your thumbs when you're shooting with your index finger

PC because it allows you to react faster, and that's really the entire point of an FPS isn't it? Showing off your reaction time.

So PC wins.

Of course, if someone likes consoles better then good for them. I just don't understand it.

that's the beauty of other humans though, we don't have to understand each other, just over come the urge to violently murder each other and we're a step ahead of the game.

edit: welcome to the escapist, I'm sure someone'll be along shortly with the official welcome

I definitely prefer using a keyboard and mouse to play most FPS games, although I spent plenty of time with Goldeneye back in the day and never minded using a controller for stuff like that. It's nice having it so much easier to aim with the mouse and so many extra keys easily accessible on the keyboard to control stuff.

There is one thing that I do wish I could have on the PC that console controllers have an advantage for, though: analog movement for walking. If I could walk with an analog stick but still realistically be able to use all the other keys I do with my left hand while still using the mouse to aim, that would be great. Having a run key and only a couple discrete movement speeds (or maybe three if you're "lucky" and have a stealth/walk/sneak mode) sucks. I'm not really sure it's physically practical/possible to do, though.

PC by far. Halo did improve the general controls for console FPS games, but its still so much better on the PC.

Maybe I suck, but I can't aim well with an analog stick. I need my point and click bullet-themed adventure games.
