The right to bear arms is a term that gets tossed around a lot when debating gun control laws. It was put in the constitution when guns were inaccurate had an ammo capacity of one and took two minutes to reload. How do you think it should be implemented today?

I have to ask: did your finger slip while you were typing the title, or was that intentional?

It is ridiculous that you can buy an assault weapon in the U.S. No amount of deer hunting requires armor piercing rounds and a muzzle velocity of 3,200 ft/s.

EDIT: This issue has been settled, thanks to the help of Berethond. This comment was made in my ignorance of the exact mechanical workings of firearms. Pay it no heed, please.

The right to bear arms was misinterpreted. This is what they meant.

And that is how I think it should be implemented. /jk

OT: I agree with TheLoveRat.

I like being able to conceal my .44 mag and I'd like to keep it that way. Was the 2nd ammendment reference really neccesary though?

I used it to establish that guns aren't the pea shooters our founding fathers had in mind and as such people might want some changes to gun control. I think it works.

While the true intentions of the founding fathers are indeed lost, I believe they included the ammendment to give the people the power to stand up against an oppresive government. [small]Is this getting too serious?[/small]

I honestly think that its laughable that this law is still around. "self defense" is bullshit and even more so when these people say "we won't be keeping the guns out of the hands of criminals". Well I think it will help and maybe, just maybe, the redneck gun owners are more dangerous than the criminals themselves.

Technically, yes. I know for a fact that in Texas, you can go into a pawn shop, buy a gun that is the equivalent of an M16, and then turn it fully automatic with some light modifications.

Yes, you can buy an AR16. But that's not an assault weapon, it is not equivalent to an M16, and cannot be made fully automatic with light modifications.

I could also buy a tank in Eastern Europe and ship it piece by piece to the U.S., but that doesn't mean anyone actually does it.
