Cant see why Call of "Duty 4: Modern Warfare" is on 14?
If its because of its popularity and sales, why aint CS on the game then?

I really dont get it...

So... Ill stick to the BS verdict.

Ico over Shadow of the Colossus...
Metal Gear Solid 2 over Metal Gear Solid 4...
Legend of Zelda over Ocarina of Time...
World of Warcraft over lots of better games...
Wait, Okami is that low on the list?
Why is Final Fantasy XII there?
Since when is the original Castlevania better than Aria of Sorrow?
In what universe is Beyond Good and Evil only #200???
People, Final Fantasy II and III are actually IV and VI, okay? Get that into your heads!

Okay... yeah, this list is screwed up. It has all the games it should have, but some that it shouldn't, and definitely not in the right order. I know this is largely a matter of opinion, but come on guys.

And really, "influential" and "best" are not the same thing. Games like the original Legend of Zelda and Metroid simply do not belong on that list: sure they were influential, but countless better games have been made since then.

It's someone else's opinion... get over it.
Basically this with out the "get over it", I can't call it BS.

I can not tell how many greatest game lists there has been, I think I have seen over 1000. However most of them did have Donkey Kong, Super Mario Brothers and Tetris right near the top. Innovation is what seems to be the most important thing to them and thats ok.

Just like when they compare all of Bob Dylans songs to eachother and they usually throw Blowin' in the Wind up the top, it's no where near his best song but it was the first of it's kind so thats why it gets so much praise.

However Ocarina of Time should be higher :D

Edit: Just like to say, if anyone here made a list I would probably disagree with it but they are still fun to make.

Sorry, if Sega's Shining Force 2 doesn't crack the top 100 on a best video games list then I disagree with it. This list goes one further and doesn't even rate it in the top 200.

Ugh.

But other than that there were some interesting choices. NHL 2009 is a great game but top 200 of all time? Sorry, but no.

Any list that puts the first Modern Warfare higher than many of those timeless classics and staples of gaming is total BS.

It feels decent, but far too new-game centric and seems to lack the progenitor titles of some (like System shock 2 over Bioshock).

But I like that Doom got what recognition it deserved, but I would elect one more- Mechwarrior 2. It changed 3D simulator games as a whole, and helped bring in the entire craze of online play.

I like that GTA3 and HL2 beat out SUPER FREAKIN' METROID and Ocarina of Time. Bullshit with a side order of "whaaaaaat?!?!?" please.

GTA3 wasn't a good game, why can people not see this? In fact the GTA series as a whole reeks of mediocrity. Ugh.

I %100 disagree.

Almost none of my favs are on there (monkey island, other lucasarts adventure games) and if they are (kingdom hearts 1 and 2) they are misplaced.

Well, my biggest problems with this list are:

No Total Annihilation--Even though many lesser strategy games made the list.
Oblivion ranked higher than Morrowind--Why?! Shit gameplay, shit story, and shiny graphics ftw?
Guitar Hero and Rock Band 2 too far apart--RB 1 and 2 were every bit as revolutionary as GH, just in different ways.
No Ninja Gaiden(2004)--IMHO this game made God of War look like garbage. But maybe that's just me.
No Neverwinter Nights--WHAT
No Psychonauts............--THE
No Jedi Outcast.............--FUCK?!

Critics need to go crawl in a ditch and die so the new generation can take over. These old games simply do not stand up to modern games in any way 85% of the time.

Name one person you know that enjoys Tetris more than they do Modern Warfare 2. Now note that their opinion is invalid because they're in the minority. New games are simply better.

I agree with it mostly. I agree on your position of StarCraft and other games, though. But the idea is that Gaming is like music in that its subjective.

Everyone has their own list. But I do see where theyre going with it to give NES Zelda the #1. It seems like a mix of good games with how they were received and their overall impact on gaming.

That said, I wouldnt put MetalGearSolid up so high... I really never liked that series until 3. But then my 200 list is different- since I havent played some of these

I wish MW2 was highe ron the list, but that's probably just because I'm a fanboy.

I understand that CoD4 is much higher on the list than MW2 because CoD4 was a big breakthrough for FPSs, while MW2 is kind of more of the same, only better executed.

Not too bad of a list though IMO.

One issue here:

30 -- The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivious (360/PC, 2006)
100 -- Portal (PC/360, 2007)
Elder Scrolls IV "OBLIVIOUS" doesn't beat portal, it was good, but not that good ;).

I dont think anyone can make these lists, after all we all have differnt ideas of good games. As I didn't see perfect dark (N64) I cannot agree with this list.

I refuse to accept a top 200 Games list that does not include Warcraft: Orcs and Humans in it and yet has the audacity to include Madden and FUCKING NBA JAM!?

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?
