Poll: Game of the Year

Why isn't the new fallout on there? There is no point in this pole till all the games are released. Fable 3 might (unlikely as it is) wow audiences, and Fallout 3 is widely acknowledged as a GOT so there is a good chance that New Vegas will rock out too.

Black ops and Halo Reach haven't been released yet, so why are they there?

Obvious Choice, Starcraft.

How is that the obvious choice? It was a PC/Mac exclusive, so none of the console players even cared that it came out. I think in order to be a GotY candidate, you need more appeal. Yes, I know SC2 sold over 1M copies on day 1, but it still didn't reach the majority of the market.

I was unaware it was most sales though. I thought it was the best reviewed game, or they did something similar.

Like appease the counsel. Or fight to the death!!!

My personal fave will be LBP 2 but in terms of how important it seems and how great it seems Starcraft 2. Though really RDR is one of the few non-exclusive games on that list so, maybe that.

Red Dead for me definitely, if GT5 is anything like GT4 then I dont even wann know about it.

As cool as Grand Turismo and Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit will be...racing games can't really ever be games of the year...unless no other games are made, they don't really have the depth required in my opinion.

Anyway, Voted for Mass Effect 2.

This also applies to Fighting games as well, lack of depth.
Fighters and Racers are very similar in the fact that they don't have a story and if they do it generally sucks, they are played better as multi player and you cant get immersed in them ie play for 15 hours straight as you will be bored of fighting or racing around and around and around for hours.

OT: I haven't played any of those other than Red Dead: Redemption, and I haven't finished it. I'm going with my write ins. I can't decide between the two.

Can't do a GOTY until the end of the year. Plus you have to make it a write in one; too many games to put in an 8 option poll and have everyone put their vote in.

Probably StarCraft II. But it's not my list. I'm still a loner in the subject that Bayonetta is the GOTY, at least for me. Atleast it was unique in nearly every way, great replay value, difficulty, loads of things to unlock (such as 2 hidden characters). Man, I simply love that game.

But yeah. SCII will win. If it doesn't some mainstream game that isn't as good as people make it out to be will win.

mass effect 2 had amazing story, red dead had good story and great gameplay, halo reach will rule, mafia 2 will kick ass but the winer is...ALPHA PROTOCOL for being the only game apart from mass effect 1 which I have replayed 3 times.

Well from this list, I'm going to have to choose Red Dead Redemption. The game's phenomenal and I truly enjoyed it. However, I'm curious to see how good Mafia 2 turns out, and judging by the demo it should be a lot of fun.

Starcraft was horrible, it was just "another starcraft clone".
Red Dead redemtions's multyplayer was just one big mess.
Cod black ops isn't released so what is it doing there?
So Mass Effect.

Well, Alan Wake is my game of the year thus far. The fact that it isn't on your list upsets me.

None of them. And the fact that you have unreleased games on your list is kind of pointless, as they haven't been played, so how could they be someone's game of the year? Doesn't really seem like a well thought-out poll, but whatever. The reason I'm not voting is because I didn't really enjoy any of those games enough to call them my game of the year.
