Go for it dude. For every ridiculous and asinine tattoo someone else gets, I get happier about the cool stuff I've spent over 100+ hours getting permanently etched into my skin.

great! unless its a bunch of chinese symbols or pixies, any tattoo is a good tattoo
I hate "Chinese symbols" ,as you call them, as tattoo ideas as well, but let my get this straight:

You think Chinese symbols are stupid, yet the ambiguous characters in YOUR tattoo are OK?
first off, i dont think the ambiguous characters mean anything (they might tho), i just think the tattoo as a whole is aesthetically pleasing and holds deeper meaning

secondly, chinese symbols are pretty much the same thing as tattooing words like 'harmony', 'inner peace' or 'flaming dragon roll' on your skin except not a lotta people know what they mean, even tho its usually some generic bit ~~ and one out of maybe three tattoos are of chinese symbols.

to answer your question, yeah, chinese symbols, bar codes on the back of your neck, dragons, fairies, scratch marks, hearts with arrows thru em, anything on fire, celtic crosses, grim reapers, swords, daggers and maybe a million other generic, mundane etchings ARE indeed stupid ~~ and if ConnorCool wants a different tattoo that means something more than shit you pick out from a parlor catalog, we should tell him its a great idea ~~ theres enough people with shit tattoos already
I'll grant that half of the examples you have listed are indeed stupid, in my own opinion. I wouldn't go so far as to say they can't be done properly, but scratch marks, celtic crosses, shit on fire, etc. just isn't my thing. However, I fail to see how picking artwork out of a parlor catalog (it's referred to as flash, and much of it is very reputable as INSPIRATION for custom artwork)is DIFFERENT from finding a picture on the internet and slapping it on your body.

Tattoo culture thrives just as much as gaming culture, if not more, and people need to realize that artists HATE not having some creative control over the piece. I understand that people seem to think that they get paid to do their job and put what YOU want on YOUR skin, but they are artists, NOT prostitutes. They simply won't do something they don't want to do.

I agree...there are enough people with shit tattoos already. I don't want to see more of them. My personal belief is that this is a shit idea for a tattoo, and thus would advise against it. You claim that he wants a DIFFERENT tattoo and we should applaud him for it, but it isn't different. Anyone who has considered getting an Assassin's Creed tattoo has probably had the idea before, and I'd be willing to bet money on the fact that someone ALREADY did it.

For you information, my 100+ hours of work you mentioned does not include any of the stupid shit you listed. It's ALL custom artwork, yet I still do have a deep respect for 40's and 50's traditional flash.

To the OP, go big or go home. If you don't have plans for extensive work that adds to a thriving artistic community, don't do it. I'm not trying to antagonize you, but as someone with half a dozen of my closest friends working in the field of tattooing, most artists would reciprocate my feeling. Do something fun for yourself AS WELL AS THE ARTIST, and everything will be better for all.

But... but, you won't be able to be buried in a Jewish cemetery. I don't aprove of tattoos unless you are actually a sailor, a Maori, Yakuza, biker, or as a tribute to a friend or family member who died. Tupac was not your friend.

That's what I was thinking of getting. Now actually seeing it makes me second guess it. Gah, damn my indecisiveness.

OT: If you think you want it, go for it.

I agree with some people here. In the future it's not certain that you will still like Assassin's Creed as you do now.
However, it's a cool design, so if you just look at it like that, go ahead.

you do realize this applies to almost everything. i dont know a thing about your tattoo and i can safely say its been done before. im also pretty sure that there's a helluva lot less people sporting assassin's creed tats than (yet again) chinese symbols. :)

OASN, I didnt mention your 100+ hours of work nor did I at any time imply that it included stuff off my list. if you feel your tattoo will go unappreciated you could simply post a picture instead of regurgitating the same shit as if somebody else brought it up. we got it ~~ 100 hours, ALL custom ~~ can we move on?

This is some ridiculous shit, brother. :) Maybe some people don't want to spend 100 hours on a tattoo. Maybe they don't wanna get a tattoo the size of a bed spread or one that can be seen from a fucking mile away. Or maybe they really don't give a shit about the 'thriving artistic community' (which is just a bullshit term for people with better than average drawing skills) ~~ I get the fact youre into tattoos and have a lotta friends working in the field, and I respect that, but don't you for a second think that the majority of people that get tattoos regard the tattooist as an artist or give a shit about their feelings, ideas or integrity.

You pay the guy to draw a damn goat on your forehead and he'll do it cos he loves him some money and thats how the world works.

My friend's getting a Triforce, though not on the back of her hand. And I'd like to maybe get something...maybe Final Fantasy themed.

I saw a stripper with crossed keyblades tattooed on her thigh once.

Not sure how to feel about that.

Go for it, if gaming's a big part of your life, I see no problem in getting a tattoo about it. But it also helps if the tattoo has a larger meaning behind it, like if you feel like you can REALLY relate to the character or something.

I'm probably going to get one as well in a few years.

Where would you get it? For me, it's all about working it in with other stuff, and while I still got a lot of work to be done (it takes several hours and plenty of money), most of my tattoos are gaming related. Here's a lot of them.

Playstation face buttons and d-pad buttons. Call me a fan boy, but I've been with Sony since I was 5 and I don't really know where I'd be without gaming, or Sony for that matter, with me all these years.

Right hand is biohazard symbol from Resident Evil, left hand is cog symbol from Gears of War.

Palm is from the World Ends With You (13:37 since it makes LEET, but also acts as their countdown timer till erasure), right wrist is the great chain from Bioshock (my left wrist was taken, or else I would have done both).

This is sort of gaming related. USB symbols on my thumbs, thumb drives :D

I also have my left arm covered in a sleeve, which is a mix of Resident Evil zombies and the upper is Medusa from greek mythology/God of War. My right sleeve is about to be started and will be a mix of Dead Space necromorphs and Kratos from God of War.

Call it silly or foolish, but I've been gaming for like 17 years, I don't think it's something I'll wake up and find old.
