I like up to be up and down to be down. Seems simple to me.
Yea.
I think I would feel the same way if I held the controller up in front of me like that but it's usually relaxed in my lap and I tend to feel that pulling back means up and pushing forward means down.

Maybe it is from growing up with flight sim games but it also makes more sense when you think about your neck: you tilt your head back and you're looking up, tilt it forward and you're looking down.

Makes sense to me but if I usually had the buttons and knobs facing me instead of the ceiling I might not invert,

I need my up to be up and my down to be down.

Any game that forces an inverted axis(doesn't happen anymore) would always throw me off terribly, and I'd either have to quit playing the game or force through it, and then be terrible at any other game that didn't force inverted axis until I could get readjusted again.

Depends on where the center of gravity of my avatar is. Creatures? No invert. Land or surface vehicles? No invert. Underwater or flying vehicles? Invert.

I invert both the X and the Y axes. As other games came and went, I was always playing Final Fantasy XI on the side, and that game's default is inverted X and Y. I got so used to those controls that now I make every game as close to those controls as possible.

That's actually why I haven't beaten Infamous or Red Dead Redemption yet-- because I can't make them like FFXI's controls. lol

There's no 'sometimes' option. Some games have inverted as standard with no option to swap. Then I'll adapt and play all my games inverted. When friend come around they want to switch it again, so I'll adapt again. Goes on and on. I must say, inverted feels more natural to me.

In flight sims it makes sense to invert it. As in when flying a plane (not that I would know anything about flying planes) I'm sure pulling back means you go up and pushing forward makes you go down. Thats about it.. However if you're playing anything other than a flight sim it would feel unnatural to look up by doing the complete opposite moving. That would be like someone pushing the back of your head your head down to look at the sky, doesn't add up in the whole first person sense of this whole scenario. So no. :\

I am happy playing both inverted and not inverting the axis, but when given the option I will usually choose to invert the axis. My reasoning is because my dad always inverts the axis and when he switches over for me to play then I just pick up from where he left off without bothering to readjust the axis. That, and when I was younger I would watch him play FPS's so I grew up thinking that inverting the axis was the way to go :D

Yes, I do. The trend actually started for me back in the days of Duke Nukem 3d. At first I just played the game with they keyboard alone (since most FPS in the era had no mouse support nor any reason to need it). When I finally did start using a mouse, I had enormous trouble until I inverted the y-axis. I suspect my problem was due to the simple fact that (probably as a result of playing lots of flight simulators back then) I tend to view the inputs as "pushing" the character forward (thus looking down) or "pulling" them back (thus looking up).

Yes, I invert the Y-axis. It's how your own head moves when you think about it. I don't understand why people think it is so strange.

I think I might have to get a t-shirt printed that says that!

I prefer not all the time, same for the X axis.

If the game has it set in the controls to be inverted on the X or Y then so be it, I wont change it. I adapt quickly to either, so it has never thrown me off that much.

It honestly depends. Generally I actually don't bother, and leave it to whatever the game is defaulted to. Perfectly fine playing with either. That said if I was playing an inverted game, and then I move straight onto a normal game, then sometimes I might change the setting to inverted, since I'll have gotten used to it.

I never invert the Y-axis. It's just too weird for me. I could probably get used to it if I had to though.
