I have definitely met more that I like than dislike. Most of them are pretty knowledgeable and polite. Though there are a few that don't have the first idea about the industry they are working in.
I agree with this so much. I think everyone should be required to work in retail at some point in their lives. Even before I worked in retail it had always been my rule to be as polite as possible to people in the service industry because i could only guess at how much it sucked. Now that I have a job in reception/retail, I can verify: it really really sucks.Generic Gamer said:Yeah, I used to work in a DIY store, before that was an off license and after that was a petrol station. People are such dicks to those in retail, it's untrue what you have to put up with, it really is.SageRuffin said:Snip
I think it should be a law that everyone has to work a few years in retail to make them appreciate the practicalities of working in customer relations. I think the poor girls on the till had it worst, customers would reduce them to tears. Funny how they'll do it to girls but the second the muscular and slightly annoyed young man asks what the problem is they suddenly find their manners.
1. If it happens so often, another system really needs to be figured out.ddrfr33k said:I've done that on more occasions than I care to admit. When the store is really busy, it's really easy to forget to put a game in a case. If you bring in your receipt while I'm still there, I'll gladly give you the game you rightfully deserve. My coworkers will also gladly oblige. We're all human, after all...GonzoGamer said:Most of them seem really stupid...for retail clerks. I mean, I've never bought french fries at McDonalds and had the clerk hand me an empty carton. Something like that happened to meat gamestop (with a game case instead of a fries carton).
Okay, I'll agree that that's a blatant violation of Wheaton's Law. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wheaton%27s_Law#Wheaton.27s_Law] Send feedback with that online survey on your receipt. The District Managers sit down and read through every comment that gets submitted with the surveys. Those clowns will learn quick or get the boot in the arse.GonzoGamer said:At the same store my wife's friend was actually laughed at when she asked if she could buy a wii fit. Sure, it was rare at the time but she's not a gamer and would have no way of knowing that.
There's always sales at GS, no matter what time of year it is. That's nothing new at all.GonzoGamer said:It's the closest game store to my house (3 blocks away) but I never shop there anymore and I don't think anyone else does either. They Always have a banner for one sale or another out front leading me to believe they're overstocked.
Do you wear clothes that are good for shoplifting: baggy pants, big coat, that kind of thing?Allspice said:That same thing happened to my parents when they wanted to buy a Wii. It wasn't at a GameStop though, I forget where they said it was. Best Buy or Walmart maybe.
I don't really like going to the GameStop at the mall nearest to me. Almost every time I go there the employees never say a word to me. That doesn't bother me much though. What does is I've also had some of them just stare at me, to the point I get the feeling I'm not welcome there. The one that's farther away is much better, the people there are always friendly.
Okay, I'll concede that point. However, GAs live and die by those surveys. Roll your eyes if you want, but there used to be some pompous dicks at the store I currently work at now. Guess who's still there and who isn't? Enough negative feedback will lead to performance reviews and possibly the end of your career.GonzoGamer said:2. Do you really think she would have a receipt? They didn?t sell her a wii fit or anything ever again. She gets her games at Target now.
