So it IS a mutation, disease if you will. Think of the word "incorrectly" apply it to biological processes and then think of the words disease and mutation. Totally cool with that. But it would be unfair if gay people go to the XMEN academy free of charge. On a more serious note people who are against Gayness would have a mightily strong argument to "fixing" or "Curing" as we (humans) do with any other mutation/disorder that is curable. I personally see it as an option.. if you have a kid and s/he is found to be gay you have the option in correcting that in the fetus just like you would blindness when the technology is available, and then who amongst straight parents would not "cure" that? And since 99% of babies are born to straight parents we can see where that would lead...

Then there is the alternative of gayness being a choice which I see nothing wrong with. Choices like that are personal and as long as you aren't in denial about your choice and have to guts to stand by it all is cool.
Though I'm not sure if mutation is the right word, the first theory is correct. The main concern with the new discoveries into homosexuality being inborn is that early tests for homosexuality would be developed which could lead to people aborting children that would grow up to be gay.

Hm, I wonder where Christians would stand on that issue.
Surely all hell would break loose as fundamentalists battle out whether aborting gay babies is murder- since a homosexual "surely he will die" according to Leviticus.
FOr the record, though, the laws of Leviticus don't hold much sway for Christians. As Christians believe, those old laws were replaced with the New Covenant when Jesus died on the cross as a sacrifice for humankind's sins. Levitical Law means little to Christianity, besides some of the basic ideas it sets forth.
Some of the more extreme fundamentalists take it VERY seriously. However, I think most Christians don't hold Levitical law in very high regard. My best friend is a Christian very much for gay rights.
I cannot stand the religious argument against this.

Its just stupid Christians trying to force their religion down our thoughts......wait......IRONY!!!!!!!!!

XD XD XD

I just noticed a gay joke there.
Hahaha a gay joke!

Anyway, no one here seems to be being particularly impolite about their opinions. There are Christians here expressing their opinions but you and me are expressing ours as well. Everyone has the right to politely express their opinion.
Oh no, this thread is great don't get me wrong.

I was talking about mainstream media(you know who I mean) the kind of religious weirdos who think that just because its against their religion it should apply to the whole country. They alwase somehow end up on the news.

Grrrr keep it to yourself Father.
Yeah. Usually when the really extreme people (i.e. Westboro Baptist Church) gets air time they act so stupid and bigoted even the likes of Bill O'Reilly gets angry at them. So it sort of helps our side in the long run.

The extreme and negative cases always end up being the publicized ones when it is related to something society is against: we as gamers understand that quite well.

It should be legal, it's not hurting anyone more than a traditional marriage would. Let people do what they want as long as they're not harming other people. If two folks love each other, let them get married regardless of gender, there's far more important matters that we should be focusing on.

I'm sorry, but I have to point again to my earlier comments. I understand what you ware saying, but while two people can do whatever they want, the social acceptance of their actions has much larger and more severe consequences.

Don't get me started on the smoking debate.

I can come up with one hell of a argument as to how smoking DOES effect others.

But gay marriage doesn't leave secondhand cancer inducing toxins around so it ok with me.

People who say no are very immature in my honest opinion. If you dont like it, fine, dont look, but dont make it so others cant have what makes them happy just because you dont like the idea of 2 males/females being married. And to those who say "only gay people support gay marriage"... No. We support.. Oh, I dunno... Basic human freedoms? There, Ive said my piece, like it or leave it.

I'm curious as to what you are claiming. Do you believe that more people will be gay if it is accepted by society? Or is this going to lead to unwarranted extrapolation into issues that have nothing to do with the topic?

The latter is paying off at 2:1 odds.

He was saying that if the majority of society accepts gay marriage then people who are against it will be looked down on.

Which isn't true in my opinion.

If you say you don't like gay marriage because of your religion or something people have to respect that.

I understand that. I believe the consequences will, most importantly, be more wide spread acceptance. Something I would be happy to see. There might be, as you said, some persecution of Christians which would be unfortunate but I think overall acceptance is a good thing.

Well I meant in his own house. In public smoking can cause problems.

No worries. Personally, I don't care much about why each person is the way he/she is. I'm more of an "accept what is for what it is" person.

Oy! Back on topic. While most of The Escapist supports gay marriage, 99ish% support Weed. So that's a really pointless conversation, unlike this one which is only moderately pointless.

It should be legal. Though I'm not sure why they would want to get married anyways, being as it's mainly a religious thing and homosexuality is generally frowned on by religion. Then again I'm not sure why they would want another dude's man canon in them either but whatever floats your boat i guess.

What about his kids? They don't deserve to breath in their fathers secondhand smoke.

(I hate to knit pick at this but I feel strongly against smoking, had a girlfriend whose father smoked around her and I could never forgive it.)

But again, I am knit picking at something with nothing do do with the topic.

I'm going to log off for the night and leave this thread with one last sentiment.

Why can't we be friends?
Why can't we be friends?
Why can't we be friends?
Why can't we be friends?

I seen you 'round for a long long time
I really 'membered you when you drink my wine

Why can't we be friends?
Why can't we be friends?
Why can't we be friends?
Why can't we be friends?

I seen you walkin' down in Chinatown
I called you but you could not look around

Why can't we be friends?
Why can't we be friends?
Why can't we be friends?
Why can't we be friends?

I bring my money to the welfare line
I see you standing in it every time

Why can't we be friends?
Why can't we be friends?
Why can't we be friends?
Why can't we be friends?

The color of your skin don't matter to me
As long as we can live in harmony

anyway- back on topic

Yep, should be legal. It doesn't affect me or anyone else if a couple of the same sex get married so why the hell not?
