This is ether a troll thread, or OP is an idiot. On topic, depends on if I like the person or not. If I like the guy, I say "No, you." in a joking manor. If I am indifferent about the person, I say the inner-pain one. I hate the person with a burning passion, like OP, I report then move on, unless its real life, then i use the psycho.

It's just bad grammar and wrong.

How the hell is "no u" cool? It's immature as hell, like something an 8 year old would say, and it marks you as an idiot since it shows you can't think of your own witty reply.

On topic: "I have lots of lives. I play videogames" is always the geeky/cool response.

And to TheNamlessGuy as well. 'no u' is a simple and dismissive response that confounds the insulter, it is difficult to respond to. It shows you don't take the insulter's 'advice' seriously. In longer battles it also gives the insulter a false sense of intellectual advantage, leaving them tempted to show their supposed intellectual superiority, which can then be cut down later. Either that or it enrages them (as proved by your response), which leaves them more willing to say silly things in anger which you can use against them.

It either pacifies the opponent by making a joke out of the situation or it draws the opponent out, is my theory.

To distinguish it, of course, from those 4-letter words which are not short. Long off!

I don't even know what I'd say these days, if anything. It's been a long time since anyone's suggested that I needed to get one, and even longer since I've cared.

In real life or on-line, it is an equally effective insult.

I guess completely ineffective in both cases would make both cases equal.

Yes we can. It is so difficult to think of a decent 'cool response' to the insult though. The fact that the opponent apparently feels that you have no 'life' kinda implies that you are not cool. Cool is such a precious thing that once lost is difficult to get back, especially so quickly.

It's very easy to respond, however.
Normally the only ones using this kind of insult, are the ones spending their friday night getting drunk enough, to not even remember it, and waste the next day hungover.
Riiiight...I can totally see where they're coming from.
