I simply go with 'Define life'. It's fun to watch them stutter and stammer before calling you a 'fag'.
This.
Exactly what I tell them.
It doesn't really win the 'argument' but if there are no spectators around, or they have already made up their mind about you, or you just don't care what they think about you, then it is a fun response. You can just sit back and enjoy their reaction, as Zeithri said.

Usually when this happens to me(yeah, it happens quite often) I try to make up some cool argument. Try to make it sound intelligent by using difficult words.

It's not an insult to me. It's psychological. Whenever someone pulls that shit on you, they're trying to assert dominance. Like an animal. These are people who have somehow learned in life that they need to put people down in order to inflate their own egos. When you respond to these people in the manner they're used to, you automatically let them win their little head game.

Case in point, my brother says shit like this to me all the time. I can blatantly see that he's trying to both a)put me down and b)try to lift himself up a little bit in doing so. I personally don't need to denigrate and demean someone else's life to enoy mine a little better. I love my life. Everything I do in it, from playing D&D to fishing and hunting, I do because I love to do it. Not because I think it will make me "cool", and surely not to impress anyone.
So my response to such an ill-adusted, developmentally stunted person is pity. Just take the high ground and show them just how sorry you are for them. That's what I do, and it works EVERY time.

p.s. I love the "I'm a gamer, I have many lives." Comment, pure genius, in the right situation.

And to TheNamlessGuy as well. 'no u' is a simple and dismissive response that confounds the insulter, it is difficult to respond to. It shows you don't take the insulter's 'advice' seriously. In longer battles it also gives the insulter a false sense of intellectual advantage, leaving them tempted to show their supposed intellectual superiority, which can then be cut down later. Either that or it enrages them (as proved by your response), which leaves them more willing to say silly things in anger which you can use against them.

It either pacifies the opponent by making a joke out of the situation or it draws the opponent out, is my theory.

Some really good responses here guys btw.
wow i never really thought of it that way. so it's bear baiting? cut down the attack power, then use very little effort to acquire the kill? magnificent.

Normally the only ones using this kind of insult, are the ones spending their friday night getting drunk enough, to not even remember it, and waste the next day hungover.
Riiiight...I can totally see where they're coming from.
I know. Which is partly why it is so frustrating.

It is like a pigeon says to a human "haha, you can't fly!". How does he human respond? "I have opposable thumbs, I can communicate with anyone on the globe, I can fly a plane, I can build a submarine". The pigeon has no interest in those things, the pigeon and the human cannot relate, both see themselves as superior. In reality we know the human is superior :p

A 'pity response' would be effective, yes.

"You know, define "life"."
*says about how he goes to discos, fucks girls, does drink hard, has many friends*
"Aha, one question, you do use a condom i hope?"
*says NO, WHY SHUD I IT DOESNT FEEL SO GOOD BUT U DONT KNOW THAT URE A NO LIFER*
"So i can just say, that the combination of discos, finding there someone, and then raping him, will get you AIDS really fast in-case you dont have it already. But no fear: you drink really much, and you are just 14 to 16 years old so that will kill your brain cells faster, and probably kill you before AIDS gets you."
*are schoked, looking at each-other, not knowing what to say*
*say: No you will get AIDS ******!!!!*
*extremly butt-hurt, cant look me into the eyes, sweat drops from him*
"Ok, whatever. Excuse me, me and some other no-lifers which i call friends are about to go shoot some zombies. see ya!"
*stands there, turns, does whisper under his nose "******"*

This is how i did deal with many of the people which where saying me to get a "life".

I like mine, have not had to use it in a while though.

Oh I see you are projecting your anger and internal fears onto me again. Well as you have projected the idea that you don't have a life let me reasure you, that you do have a life and plenty to live for. you have friends, you do have friends right? Ok good, you have friends who are there for you and you have hobbies and a girlfriend, you do have a girlfriend right? Ok good you have a girlfriend who you care for. You will pull through you just need to address these issues that are bothering you.

I can go on for a long time, the more they say the more I can blather about them repressing their feelings, projecting their feelings onto me and other people. It is fun they tend to go away quickly though...odd isn't it?

I would go with the psycho response, I can pull that off well. t One of the times someone told me to get a life, he said he had an extra one and wondered if I wanted it, I told him to keep it for himself.

Logical response wins, I'm living so therefore I have a life, I just don't use my life very.........lively I guess, and that's my choice to have an unlively life and I'm happy with it.
