Look, I really do NOT want to see this devolve into a bleeding flame war, however we need to get a few things clear. First off I am a jr executive in an insurance company. I make 6 figures. And I am THRILLED with the new health care plan. I can't wait! Being able to cover EVERYONE is massive and means that my company will make a frigging killing. AND people get the help they need. The ones who are crying poor are the pharmaceutical companies because they may just have to get rid of the 1000% markup they have on medications in the US and charge us the same low prices they have for the entire rest of the planet. I am a liberal. And I get asked why a whole lot. It's mainly studying history. Oh, that and I hates me some freedom.

My problems with Beck are frankly legion, but the main one is that he butchers definitions. Communist does not equal socialist does not equal liberal does not equal nazi does not equal totalitarianism. Period. You want proof, LOOK IT THE HELL UP. Progressives are Nazis!!!!1111

He uses straw man arguments, logical fallacies and fear mongering to rouse up an uneducated population into reactions against policies that he either doesn't or pretends not to understand.

Just the other day I was doing a field demo with a new agent who ASSURED me that because I thought FDR was a good president that I must be a Nazi. Let me repeat that. Because I thought that OUR PRESIDENT DURING WORLD WAR 2, the guy who lead our army AGAINST Nazi Germany, was a good president, that I was a Nazi.

Now here's the problem. There's no competing with that level of ignorance. You can't win. There's a number of you out there who are going to read this and just plain not understand it.
The actual topic is a (frankly brilliant) bit by Lewis Black pointing out that the KING of Nazi comparisons bitching about how some people are complaining about being forced to carry around personal documentation proving citizenship being compared to Nazi Germany (in which people were forced to carry around documentation proving citizenship) was unfair. The fact that ANYONE can see that and not see anything a little... odd, is frankly scary as hell.

Look up progressive, communist, Nazi, socialist and liberal in a dictionary. Then go tell me they're all the same thing. Stalin was a socialist, he was on OUR side in WW2. So yeah, socialists are Nazis. Besides which, who the hell is saying we're switching to a socialist government anyway? Last I checked the industrial revolution, the rise of Rome, the second British empire, the AMERICAN industrial revolution, the computer revolution were ALL kicked off by progressive programs. But hey, progressives are Nazi's too. Better let the British know.

Glenn Beck is a genius in the fact that he is using commonsense to show how we will lose our freedoms if we don't stand up to the socialist agenda and show them that they can't tell us what to do.

We are Americans, we are free. We don't answer to the government, the government is to answer to us.

I think he can since what this government is already halfway down the track towards is socialist totalitarianism. What the socialists and progressives in our government want to do is to tell us exactly what we should do. They are forcing the private sector into government control, health care for example. Eventually the private sector health insurance will be gone and the government will have the monopoly and will tell us what we can and can not do. "We won't insure you because you want to actually have life and eat what you want." I mean come on, they already want to impose higher and higher taxes on soda and juice and other things that "Are not good for our health."
Oh and should I mention that Obama wants to make community service mandatory for high school graduation. That is forcing people to do something against their. If that happens, then when I have kids they will be home schooled. I will be the parent and if my kids don't want to do community service then they don't have too. Community service is for people that actually have the time to help other people and for people that are criminals that are being made to do the service as punishment.

So forcing kids to do the right thing is bad? Just like forcing people to follow laws and forcing people to wear clothes is also bad...

The fact is, people have been saying that about the country almost every single time a democrat gets elected, and it has yet to happen at all.

Well ill start off by saying hes not a moron, in fact he is quite smart. Many of the facts he brings up about the people in washington are true he just bends those facts in order to match his own political views. Much of what he says is gibberish but if you were to go through most of the facts he states there is some truth behind it.
Since this thread is solely about "is glenn beck a nazi" I wont say anything political. My view is like what I stated above, Hes not a moron nor is he a nazi. Hes just an extremist who is on the right. There are many on both sides of the isle im looking at you cnn and some of their news anchors.

Wow, good first post. I pretty much agree with everything you just said. Thought I am not an American, I feel a tad sorry for the way the political field in the US (and growingly Canada) has chaned to be less about ideas for the future and more about attacking the other side. People seem to have become obsessed with demonizing the enemy so much that nothing ever ets done and any new or interesting ideas mean you're a Nazi. i was watching John Stewart like always, when they had a some what regular segment called "Back In Black". People who watch the show know that Lewis Black discusses issues in his own comedic brand. He came across a subject that i had never noticed before from Glenn Beck, he "always" compares things to nazi's, hitler and such. im sure some of you have watched this, but, i found it quite hilarious!

Well, that was quite honestly refreshing to read. I too am very tired of the whole socialists = communists = Nazis = totalitarianism and Obama's secret plan to destroy America so that terrorists can set up a Muslim theocracy... NAZIS! When has it ever been about ideas for the future? Ever since the time of President John Adams, party politics have always come first.

It's rare but occasionally it happens. Downside is more often than not they don't get votes because the opposition is all too happy to slander them into non-existence. Because the average voter would rather choose an asshole they can easily understand than a visionary who might confuse them. And thats why democracy barely works.

Wow, I think I actually lost braincells trying to track that.

I've yet to see Beck present facts in a broadcast, and I've watched more than I care to. He excels at spraying out random semi-factual, non-sequitor data and hopes, that if he links two words frequently enough you won't realize that there is no connection outside of his rabid tie eating mind.

The man's a brilliant entertainer, but as for offering political commentary, he's about as accurate as a Gallagher show.
