I'm on the side of anthropogenic global warming being complete BS, and I also fail to understand why a higher CO2 concentration alongside higher temperatures could possibly be construed as a bad thing.

From my understanding, these are just SOME of the benefits of a warmer planet:
1) Plant life will flourish as they grow best at co2 concentrations of 1000-1500ppm
2) More precipitation worldwide will provide further growth to plant life and boost crop production.

Other things keeping me from buying into man-made global warming:
1) A politician stands to make billions off this.
2) Potential decline in standard of living
3) Going to cost a fortune to the taxpayer
4) Constant hypocrisy among environmentalists (The ones who want new energy sources yet boycott incredibly safe and efficient nuclear power)

The world is warming up who cares? The world has gone through hotter days and colder days. This is just another point in the cycle. Yes we need to stop spitting carbon into the atmosphere and all that crap, not because it's causing the world to heat up, but because we will drown ourselves in our own fumes.

Half of the people going on about buying solar panels and water tanks hold shares in those particular companies. Not that we shouldn't buy those things but come on. Who stands to make a gain here? Certainly not us.

I don't think it's much of a problem.
It snowed at my house today. It hasn't snowed here since 1978.

I think that global warming is just something the planet naturally goes through. A scientific study recently done somewhere in Europe (I think that's where it was) has provided some strong evidence that the Earth has not been at its warmest in 2009, but rather, in 1997. And let's not forget how hot it was in prehistory. The volcanoes erupting caused global warming back then! Personally, I think Al Gore is full of crap. Sure, he talks a pretty talk, but he puts out more pollution than most average people. His movie, An Inconvenient Truth, should really be called, "An Inconvenient Biased Opinion." If you compare the climate change charts in that documentary to actual scientific climate change charts, you will find that the charts in the movie are either inaccurate or missing the sections that would contradict what the movie is trying to say. I've never actually seen An Inconvenient Truth, but a friend of mine who has seen it compared the charts. According to him, there is an inconsistency. I haven't done the research on this myself to back it up, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was true. And since I'm too lazy to back any of my arguments up with links, I'll let you guys do the research yourselves. If you can prove me wrong, show me something. However, what you show me has to be scientific and unbiased. Otherwise, I will disregard it.

Now I'm not saying I don't care about the environment. I'm just saying that even though global warming DOES exist, it's not a serious issue. There are bigger things to worry about in the world today.

Think of it this way. It could be worse. There could be some evil corporation building machines to harvest the planet's life force for energy!

Now please excuse me while I go replay Final Fantasy 7.

Of COURSE I believe in it! If it WEREN'T true, wouldn't the Earth be in a permanent Ice Age?

The planet has been a lot warmer and a lot cooler. It's just the way nature works.
Yes, I agree.

But it is also true that mankind is making this process happen at an unnatural rate. Which is a problem.

Why is it a problem? Mankind would fully survive another 600ppm in the atmosphere, we can adapt to rising sea levels, we can still grow crops, plant life would love to have more co2 in the atmosphere...where's the problem?

No more snow-days. Problem.

Where's the graph? I can't find a link for it.
Oh sorry, it's in my previous post in this thread, just a few posts above your original one, same page.

Its pretty obvious what we are doing is affecting the planet, there are more natural disasters more extreme weather conditions now than ever before.

EDIT:Let me rephrase that. I think there's something to global warming, and that some things should be done, slowly while thinking it through. Some of the science seems shaky but I believe it's a viable theory. This isn't quantum physics or string theory though, so it shouldn't be half as complex.

However, I've become pretty nihilistic and "fuck it" over the issue because every ignorant tard seems to think if America isn't warming then the world isn't. And I'm not even sure how to respond to the "global warming fraud" fiasco because I can't tell if people are misinterpreting scientific terms and context or we honestly have a bunch of corrupt assholes on our hand due to the politicizing of the issue.

And for everyone saying humanity is a virus/cancer, get over it. Organisms replicate, even at the expense of other organisms. That's our "purpose" our drive. Everything is cancer if you think about it that way. The only reason we treat cancer differently from us is because we are US working for the survival and propagation of US where as cancer stands in our way.

Check out the graph I posted. The El Nino affect easily explains why the world was at its warmest back in 1997.
Thanks! I found it. I'm guessing that this is the kind of graph they were using in An Inconvenient Truth, except skewed so it wouldn't contradict the "humans are the biggest cause of global warming" crap they were trying to preach

Its snowing...outside...right now...
Snowing in December, when its suppose to be snowing here. It didnt come last month, that would be too soon. And its not holding out until next month, that would be too late. My summers are not too hot, my winters not too mild.

Am I saying its all a lie? No.
Am I saying the facts are heavily embellished? Yes.

It's completely idiotic to think that with all the crap we've been pumping into the atmosphere since the industrial revolution began, we've had no impact on climate change. Global warming, global cooling, acid rain, whatever...obviously we're doing a lot of damage to the earth one way or another. Do I think it will really affect us in the current generation? No, but the cycle has to be stopped at some point or else we're just encouraging our own demise.
erm no not really. Water is actually the main Greenhouse gas while carbon dioxide only plays between 1-2% of total greenhouse effect. So basically we can pump in shit all into the environment and yet it may increase greenhouse effect to mayb 1 more %.

With regards to other trash like nitrates, nitrous oxides, all the other acidic oxides etc, basically we're turning the world in to a corrosive area to live in. But then again, corrosive does not equates to WARMING nor COOLING. thats climate.

i would really urge all of u guys to read more instead of just purely listening to the media. Case in point, diesel has always been touted as a dirty fuel yet it is actually much more fuel efficient and produce less carbon than petrol. Only reason it is not used in cars is because it's harder to get a smoother reaction hence a smoother ride. However it is used in most heavy machinaries and vehicals. But becuz it is not used in our daily cars but in heavy machines, media and people start to say OMG DIESEL IS THE WORST FUEL SOURCE IT IS THE SAME AS COAL OMG SO POLLUTING OMGWTFBBQ. and guess wad? all the idiots start to believe it as well.

We'll always believe in things which our friends say, our family says, wad the news say without checking. I really hope all of us will read more I MEAN THE INTERNET IS JUS A FEW CLICKS AWAY. Read all sources, both for and against and form your opinion. Not form your opinion then start to read with a bias mindset.

But who am i kidding? we still haf people thinking Barack Hussien Obama is muslim.... so well... i guess the world is always full of stupid people. And the funny thing is, usually, the stupid people are more vocal and also have enough free time to go and "champion" their causes. Other smarter and down to earth people have something called JOBS.

My views on global warming:

Fry:It's a good thing Global Warming never happened
Leela: Oh it did, but good thing nuclear winter canceled it out.

The earth is warming and be glad. We are overdue for an ice age. I am pretty sure we wouldn't have been able to handle an ice age but global warming is something we can handle.
