I will waste the same amount of money on a warship just to sink this crap.

Come on, wasting you money on useless ridiculously expensive stuff is one thing, but this is a new level.

Of course he has the right, what are you talking about?

I never said he couldn't buy that boat. I said he shouldn't buy that boat.

He has every right to buy that boat, he's got every right to be a despicable egocentric asshole.

And I've got every right to call him out on it.
Yep and I will call you out and how much fucking bullshit that it.

Sorry but not giving away all your money to a bunch of lazy fucks and instead spending it on yourself does not make you a despicable egocentric asshole. Saying that he is one because he wants to spend alittle money on himself only makes you look like one.

Yes, clearly giving children enough money so they don't starve and die instantly turns them into pricks.

Good things all those wars and genocides happened, just look at the large amount of children that were killed before they received money and could turn into pricks....
Money will not solve their problems.
I'm sorry but, what is wrong with you?
You must be trolling. You cannot genuinely believe that all the children in Africa are starving and dying of disease and thirst because they are lazy?

I'm withholding myself here because I don't think I can express how disgusting I find you without bringing moderator wrath.

You'd have to be some sort of major dick to waste all that money on a boat when there are hundred of worth charities who desperately need funds. I'm not saying don't buy a boat, sure spend a few mil on a nice yacht if you have the cash and inclination... but to waste over 4.3 billion on a gold plated yacht is criminal.

No I dont think that they are all lazy. One thing I do know however is that throwing money at them wont solve anything at all. Sure it might be a temporary fix but its does not solve the heart of the problem and as soon as you stop throwing money they will be starving and dying of disease again.
You might want to edit your post then. I can imagine I'm not the only one who saw that you were calling starving children in Africa lazy.

I won't get into the debate about whether charity is the right thing to do or not, as that will be of topic. I will say however, that whilst it could be argued that charity is only a temporary fix, that's still more ethical than spending obscene amounts of money on a gold plated penis extension.

In the end though, you are right, it's his choice. But that should by no means be a reason for us to not criticise the buyers actions.

I think I would spend that 4 billion dollars on a 'Trade food for vasectomies' program. Having 25 kids is probably a large part of why there are so many starving people.

Nope I wouldn't buy it. I find the waste of the materials as well as the money put into that yacht to be a horrible use for them.

Most of the features on this boat is ridiculous, I mean a statue carved of the bone of a T-Rex and a wall made of a meteor? I personally would never consider wasting my money on that. I am however curious to what that bottle of liquor is.

Discussion: If you had the money to purchase this "Super Boat", would you? It would be the boat to show off. Than again, $4.3 billion dollars could be used for other things like feeding the hungry.
looks like a good way to get hit up by pirates being seen driving one of those hope they stay out of international waters

FFS, if you're gonna spend that much on aesthetics, at least make sure it looks nice. As it is, the interior looks no better than an ordinary yacht, and the outside just looks cheesy. Not to mention that the iPad Case looks like a plastic chopping board with glitter in the middle.

Good to know that while the economy is in the toilet, wasteful compensators can still afford gold plated yachts and iPads. Life sucks.

Remember, we cant give these people tax increases. What they are doing is too important like making a gold plated yacht.

Are you kidding me? He donates 1000 to a charity and you call him a jerk because he didn't donate enough? Fuck you. You are in no position to judge people because of how they spend money dick.

I don't really like gold, it's a bit too garish for my taste.

Couldn't this also apply to your year of volunteer service in south Africa? After all, you're not doing volunteer work there now, are you?
What does that have to do with anything?

Are you implying I did my volunteer work for vanity purposes? Are you saying that was wasted time, money and effort?
No, I'm asking if your year no longer means anything, as you're not actively helping them now. You're now spending money on luxuries and the like, instead of donating.

I'm merely curious.
My year there means a lot. Just like that purchase of his means a lot.

The thing is that in my opinion bad things count for a lot more then good things.

You need to do a lot of good things to make up for a few bad things. Why? Because good things should be the norm, it should be normal to help others out when it's no huge loss to you. And it should be despicable to refuse to help others when it's no huge loss to you.

I'd need to do only a few really bad things for my entire year there to count for nothing, as obviously I learned nothing from it and whatever good I did I easily undid by doing those bad things.

That guy needs to do a LOT of good to make up for wasting 4 billion dollars. He needs to do so much good that I don't see a person who spend 4 billion on his vanity ever capable of making up for it.

But if he ever does, I'll happily admit I was wrong and apologize.
I have one small problem with this logic. So, quick question- what exactly is "bad" about this purchase?

Don't get me wrong, it's wasteful and rather stupid, I know. I just fail to see any harm coming from it. If anything, it beats the alternative of "man lets 4 billion dollars sit in bank account for 100 years", as in this case at least a few boat builders are getting a paycheck.

"The money could have been used to feed starving children" is a valid argument in stating that there are better alternatives to this boat, butthat doesn't mean the boat was a bad choice. The lack of good does not imply bad.

I would compare it to... let's say a guy tied to some train tracks. If I randomly stumble upon him and free him, then that is obviously a good decision. However, seeing him and failing to free him isn't a bad choice. I'm not directly responsible for any harm, and while I probably could have saved him if I tried harder, it doesn't make me a bad person.

The yacht isn't made out of lightning and orgasms. Therefore, it is lame and does not interest me.

My yacht is going to be so much cooler than their yacht.
That sounds like a terrifyingly awesome yacht.

OT: What, they don't have a mounted cannon or a flamethrower? I'm disappointed, I sure as hell would, and how that flamethrower isn't going to melt my ride? Magic that's how!

I dare pirates to come at me!

Nope.

Its extreme and in-your-face extravagance is pretty god damn unrefined and tasteless. What good will such a golden boat do you when people - at least those you're probably hoping to impress - will simply look down on you for being a preposterously vulgar spender with no class or common sense?
