Poll: Greatest FPS of all time?

A guy I know was in the #2 Tribes clan in Europe. I never played, but the game must have been pretty awesome for him to invest so much time in it.

Question: Does Fallout 3 count as an FPS even though you can switch to third person?

Honestly, I'm not a big fan of the really old-school FPS. I didn't start getting into them too much until Halo came along.

Of those classics I'll go with Quake. Quake is still one of my favorite games. Doom is up there but it doesn't have the same effect that Quake does with me.

But I'm going to pull an o-yari out of my backside, ignore what I just said and vote Painkiller. No plot what so ever but it's just too damn fun. It's mindless slaughter in extremely fun manner put to then umpteenth power and it has a gun that shoots shuriken and lightning.

Nope, can't beat that. So, voted other because the best FPS is Painkiller.

It could be better...if it had tits and was on fire! But yeah, Painkiller gets my vote, even though it's much more recent than the others. If that doesn't count, then Doom.

I still to this day adore Goldeneye 64 so I'll have to say that's the greatest FPS of all time, the hours I've wasted on multi-player must be insane.

Call of Duty 4 for me. Not the deepest, or most amazing. Can't compare to games like Half Life 2 (or any of it's episodes), but for me it was the game i could imagine being on the news. I could imagine looking at the news and hearing and seeing some things that happen in that game.

Theres an other option for those that don't feel like contributing to the debate that I put forward, which I mentioned was regarding Doom, Quake, Wolfenstein and Duke Nukem. And besides HL2 while a good game is really over rated just like Halo!
