yay there are other people i loved the original Quake 
Best FPS game ever, fact!
I mean it was well ahead of its time and i spent many hours as a child playing it both Deathmatch and Co-op over a WAN(we had 2 computers on a LAN and my uncle dialled down the phone over internet.... Very advanced for its day

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Ordinarily I'd pick Halo 3, but after getting the chance to play CoD 4, and being able to play its online multiplayer, I can see that I was slightly off thinking Halo 3 was superior- Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4's multiplayer are fairly equal, but when it comes to the campaigns, Call of Duty 4 wins out. And honestly, I prefer playing CoD4 online, at least for now.

Ok, not to be redundant here, but... half-life. Now, I don't think the game it self was the greatest thing ever, but what it created it created all of my favorite mods. I wouldn't have been able to spend 30 hours playing CS:S or 250 hours playing TF2 if the original Half-life had never been made. So, like Doom is put on here for innovation, I say half-life for innovation.
I always thought Halo was good, but I don't think it's the greatest FPS of all time. A lot of its "innovation" was taking some previous innovations and improving on them.

well said, other than that i don't think there wiull ever be a SINGLE GREATEST FPS, because everybodys tastes are different, and they all have different pros and cons, you will never get all the pros with no cons, so it will never be perfect, and therefore any GOAT discusion is a bit pointlessJark212 said:
