So I was noticing that their are no threads devoted guns and weaponry. Lets change that shall we? :D I was inspired by my favorite show on the Discovery Channel: "Sons of Guns" Man they make some wicked guns, when I get the pistol I want I want them to customize it. This thread is for the discussion of weapons in a friendly manner, comparing them and their strengths and weaknesses

As a way of a opening topic I am having trouble deciding between two types of handguns that I like. The Smith and Wesson Model 3 "Schofield" Revolver or a Wildey 457 Magnum. I like both but I can only get one.

I still have some of my old fencing gear lying around somewhere...I always like the fencing blade, a nice throwback to the Renaissance era chivalry and duels.

Where's the option for 'I like 'em all'?

As a swordsman... I like swords, obviously. However, I do like me a G3, SSG552, AWM and Dreyse (the daddy of all - OK, most - rifles).

EDIT: Uh, just to be a dick: what do you mean by 'rifle' (all of the first three options are technically 'rifled weapons') as bolt-action? Muzzle-loading? Battle? Assault? Paradox gun? (Restricting to small-arms.)

OOps I did forget to add a "Like em all" or "Other" in the poll, ah well :p

I realize "rifle" has a lot of different catagories but so many would clog up the poll.

Well I don't own a gun, however I do own a few swords and have had a bit of training with swords so my answer is obvious.

Since RK62 assault rifle is the only gun I've ever fired, I can't really say anything about other guns. I'm not a "gun-nut" type of guy, so outside of games I have no favourite guns. Except if by favourite you mean the coolest, then I'll choose the matchlock arquebus.

I don't own a gun, but my friends all say I'm the sort of person that should own a revolver. I think it's a compliment...

I've always pictured myself as a pistol type of guy, M9 Beretta, Colt 1911, pretty much ANY revolver. I mean their light, most of them don't require much training to maintain properly, and I just like single shot, or semi-autos in general.
Though a close runner up are old fasioned bolt-action rifles, maybe it's all the World War 2 stuff I've watched but for me the Kar98K is one of the best guns ever made.

Glock 18 and an L85A2 for me. Versatility is important.
Glock's are good, reliable weapons, used alot by law inforcement. Personally perfer a Jericho 941, or a Colt .45 1911. IMHO though it doesnt get any better than the Wildey .457 mag, it can be costumized in different barrel lengths and sights or laser optics can easily be attached. The only problem is the ammo also has to be custom made.

Schofield's are great revolvers, very well made, and can use many different ammo types. They also can be reloaded super quick thanks to a thumb latch that drops the barrel down and ejects the cartridges.

Looked up that L85A2, its an...interesting gun. Reminds me of another British gun but cant think of the name. From what I can see a fully modified M4(like what U.S troops carry) or M16 will give you the same results.(especially if you want versatility) As far as assault rifles go I'll take a P-90 over any other any day of the week.

*meh* S'OK, but I'm fairly sure most people here (unless they're as pedantic as me) will take as read: assault rifle. Ah well...

Though I am drawn to naval artillery, of the old fashioned sort: 36pdrs, carronades and all that... stuff (as sort of inferred by my inclusion of 'Dreyse rifle' *hrk*).

Ah yes I love the old style of Navel warfare myself. I spend hours on Empire and Napoleon: Total war in ship battles, throwing the biggest, and most heavily armed gunships(Im talking 100 gun monsters) at each other. You can almost smell the gunpowder mixed with sea air. From that period I liked the Blunderbus, you fire that at someone and they are sure to have a bad day.

Top guns for me -

Rifle: Ruger Mini-Ranch .223. This was my first rifle. I had fired and hunted with rifles for years before getting this one but this is the first one that is actually mine.

Shotgun: Remington 1100 12 gauge. I shot on my school trap team with this gun. There were several people with "trap grade" guns that couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, much less a clay bird. I was just using my hunting shotgun with a improved-modified choke and was the second best on the team. The top shooter had been competing professionally for years.

Handgun: Ruger Blackhawk .357. I inherited this one from my Uncle. He died before I was even born and my Grandfather kept all his guns. When I turned 21 and got my pistol permit (I was the only grandchild in my entire family that both tried and got approved) he let me pick out 2. I picked that one and a Ruger .22 (pre-Mark I).

(I like Rugers okay!)
