I look more forward to episode 3 then to a eventual Portal2, just for the reason that even Valve will have to admit that their episodic content; even for a Valve timescale is wrong.

I rather have them announce Hl3/4 and saying "Coming in 6 years" then what we have now.

Episode 3, because I feel more assured of its quality than I do for Portal 2. Valve has continually provided stellar level design and production values for the Half-Life games, so I know what to expect there. So far, I don't know what they can/will do for Portal 2, so I'll wait until I have more information.

Assuming the technology on the Borealis is the Portal gun, which can then be reverse engineered, Portal 2 would make a good companion piece for Half Life 2 Ep3, the main objective of which it seems will be to get hold of the unknown tech aboard the ship. Portal 2 could detail just what the hell happened, and how the ship ended up where it did.

I'd wager a gamble that Chell gets caught by authorites under the payroll of Aperature, but evades them and manages to break free, but ultimatly the Portal gun breaks as she escapes on the ship and it sucks the whole thing through a Portal.

Episode 3, hands down. Portal was cool and all, but my god. I need some story conclusion!

Both, that option's pretty logical for me. I loved Half Life 2 and episodes 1 and 2, which I just finished. Right now I'm literally dying to go to the Borealis and find out what happens. However Portal was amazing, and I'd love to see Portal 2 have co-op, where special puzzles could only be completed by a team of test subjects. So this kind of brings it to a stalemate of which one I want more.

The ending to Half life epi 2 was so great, tragic yet filled with suspence as you wanted to know what will happen next, then the credits start to roll and i sat back in my chair and sighed with the thought of having to wait for it, i was also filled with dread and sorrow after the ending of epi 2

So yes, in short i choose Epi 3

Please excuse my spelling, its 1:44am here in Britain and i've just staggered back from the pub, rather than fall asleep i chose to come check out the escapist :) what a devoted drunk i am

Why not give Gordon the portal gun? Done.
You might get it later on in the game cause doesn't the Borealis (possible spelling error)
contain "advanced tech"
I thought it had the aperture (sp) logo on the side. Also I would like both.
Yea from what I remember Aperture labs owns the Borealis and it has portal technology on it.
(allegedly)

Do you have to play Half Life 1 in order to understand it or can it be played solo?

Both, either, it doesn't matter. My feeling (and I realize this is pretty much typical) is that as long as Valve is making games, things are good. Not that I think about it, I'd rather go with some closure to the Half-Life series.

Portal is a little overrated to me, especially when this its the only *recent* game that Yahtzee gave a really good review for, and that this is the biggest fansite to him *awaits for tomato in the face*.

But yeah, episode 3, as the ending to episode 2 pissed me off, and now i want more.

Both would be nice but portal is the last game that we should risk contracting sequeilsis.

Portal 2, I think I definitely enjoyed Portal more overall. I never really got why Half-Life won so many awards - it was just a linear shooter to me.
Because it revolutionised storytelling and character based FPS's...
Not really. It had a fine story, I wouldn't call it revolutionary. What's that? Some evil doer's have taken over the world and its time for a hero who can simply absorb bullets to try and stop them? Yeah, no, I think that's been done before, and I think to call a story revolutionary it should be original.

i want to see portal 2, but i know im going to be dissapointed... portal was good because it was original and interesting... to be quite honest i dont think they are going to let you run around in the real world with the portal gun... and following someone else through the same facility would be boring.. i dont have any idea what they are going to do, but like a heroin addict trying to quit.... i hate myself as i wait for the next fix..
