Poll: Half-Life

You don't need to play Half Life before Half Life 2, the story is pretty easy to understand.

Though, play Half Life! It's an awesome game.

I first played Half Life 2 from the orange box then I decided to play Half Life 1 but obviously Half Life 2 was better there are far too many vent crawling sequences in the first one.

I played Half Life 1 first, thought it was playable (I couldn't shake the feeling I was playing a glorified Counterstrike mod, was still a solid game though) and later went on to play Half Life 2 (upon a friend's reccomndation, namely because he needed me to write a review for it for his site).

The story IS connected between the two in the same sense that the plot of AVP 1 and AVP 2 are connected, they are technically connected but only in a vague way (Half Life 1, as far as I could tell, didn't have much of a story besides 'get the hell out of dodge because aliens have appeared and the Army is really pissed off').

Steam has it for 15$ for the whole pack.

I played Half Life 2 before Half Life, but then I went back and played Half Life. After beating the first one, I found that it wasn't absolutely necessary to play it in order to understand the second game.

Nah, you'll be confused either way. I recommend just looking up the story.

As for which is better. I would say Half life 2.

i have just started to play half life 2 without playing half life 1 first and i don't have a fucking clue what's going on, but its still a good game

Half life 1 is fun ( I still remember the creepy boss fights at the end that gave me some serious "Wtf" moments.)but its not essential to the story as you can pick most of it up from 2.

I loved half life! i had it for ages on the pc before i got half life 2- its worth playing just to find out why gordon freeman is so famous

Well, I've only played (and finished) Half-life 2, and I understood most of it. It really doesn't affect you.
