I'm actually surprised that half-life is in the lead here.
You'll realise we have more halo-haters here than halo fans.

Halo or Half-life, they're both different experiences. Which is better, I don't care. I'm here to play games and have fun. What's with you kids and which is the best game ever...I'll never understand you guys.

Half-Life series easily. I believe HL2 was awarded the title of best game ever made and received one of Edges only perfect scores.

If you don't say Half-Life, you're a half-wit.
Oh ho, I saw what you did there.

Anyway, i like halo but as soon as I saw this I thought Half Life, I think it might just be because you can really get drawn into the half life story, and I just cant say the same with halo, but hey that's my opinion.

I abosolutely love the Half-life series and think its a postively great game, but i have been with Halo for much much longer and it is so classic, so HALO FTW!

Half-life so incredible over all, story line is great, and deathmatch doesnt have many 9 Year old screaming at you as halo seeing as its on the PC and most Nine year olds have that kind of money to get a decent gaming rig XD.

half-life by a great distance! halo is the most overrated, teen-pandering, bland fps i have played. The crass story and forgettable gameplay cheese me right off. HAlf-life is intelligent, explorative and actually a piece of art.

I wasn't all that impressed with Halo. Half-life, on the other hand...extraordinary. Uncanny. One of the best games ever made. Halo...not so much.

Apologies to the people who like Halo; I just wasn't impressed with it.

EDIT: By the look of the poll, I'm not alone in that.

I will stand from the highest mountain and scream at the top of my lungs "HALF-LIFE!!!"

I don't hate Halo, but Halo fans piss me off. Their supremacist douch-nozzles and I'm glad to see this poll taking them down a peg.
You do realize you sound like a supremacist douche-nozzle right?

didnt notice my typo i meant to say Buddies. as in the fact that barney shot things and killed them. Halo is a diff story anytime you got an aid from some AI Tard he was basically only a bullet magnet. also the aliens in half-life are very simple they are not an advanced psecies. and im going by the first version of each game. so no antlions there... the se aliens were primative in the aspect of a non-centralized militia... they were more of your spore creature creator types with instinct running.

I am not master chief and im glad im not.. he is very forced in his emotional acting in there. also if MC was a mute stioc as gordon the Halo series would have been utter shit story-wise imo. Half-life makes a great game both in gameplay and story without needing much of a script.
I hated friendly AI in Half-Life 2, they always got in the way. At least in Halo you can always jump over them if it comes to that (doesn't usually as the hallways are wide enough).

And Bungie claims that they dumbed down friendly AI in all three games to make it more fun.

Half-Life by miles because I prefer single player with good plotlines.
Halo seemed to cop out after the first game, but its impossible to beat halo for the easy pick-up-and-play multiplayer action when your friends come round if you want some old fashioned shooter action and no-one has played much before.

Agree, except some mods. Often there is a "stupid evil" minge in Gmod. I was a good minge, I stayed offline until I actually knew what I was doing.

Comparing the series of Halo to Half-life:

Story
Halo: Aliens are evil. Kill them. You are a super badass. Big rings shoot lasers that blow up the universe. Who cares about story, I'm just trying to have fun!
Half-life: You are a theoretical physicist trying to escape a portal experiment gone wrong and disappear. Years later, you suddenly reappear to fight in a rebellion.
Winner: Half-life(Even if I didn't give details for it, I know the Halo story!)

Control
Half-life: Standard controls
Halo: Standard controls, but on a console controller, so better.
Winner: Both

Linear
Halo: Shoot things, drive, get to the next level.
Half-life: Shoot things, drive, find out where to go, get to next area.
Winner: Not much to judge from

Mods
Halo:(notice, only console) Halo 3 had a good map creating system.
Half-life: Full SDK only for people who take it seriously.
Winner in difficulty: Halo, easy and works well.
Winner in results: Half-life, amazing mods, I don't spend enough time to learn how to make any.

Multiplayer
Halo: 5 year old kids screaming at you over the mic.
Half-life(CS:S,TF2,mods, L4D): People willing to make servers that outlaw that.
Winner: Half-life

Overall Winner: Half-life.

Both are good, Half-life is better, this post is too long.

Look at my avatar and tell me what to think.

That's right. Halo. Half life. I love Half Life. Almost as much as nuclear physics.
*Gasp* That much!?

Blasphemy....

On Topic:
I've been playing them both, and Hl2 held my attention longer than Halo.

I enjoy Halo more than Half Life, but I have a great appreciation of Valve's products. Its just that I don't like having to be scared of a game.
I like to want a summer home in half the levels.

You know, people always say that and I really don't get how it's such a big problem that it defines the experience. Sure I see a few but that's to be expected and a quick mute solves everything.

Maybe I just have some sort of magical douche repellent.

I also wouldn't count CS:S, TF2, or L4D as part of the Half-life series. Yes they use the same engine but would you count Gears of War as part of the Unreal Tournament series?
