Poll: Halo series, Love it, hate it.

Given all of Halo's successes and flaws, over all, what do you think of this game series? Do you think the story is a load of shit, or a master piece? Game play awesome in its simplicity, or unoriginal and total crap?
This issue is very polarizing. I just want to know where everyone stands on this issue.

Halo 3 is probably one of the more "fun" multiplayer games to date. With it they really created an element where gamers could go and goof off. I've spent hours playing in the forge just playing with freinds, and I have to say its honestly more enjoyable than playing CoD:4's multiplayer. I like it better because its more lighthearted than other games.

The multiplayer got better with each one but the single-player slowly got worse. It's hard for me to truly give a fair critique of the story since I've read the books, the comics, and about everything possible to know about the back-story but I will say this:

Halo 2 had my favorite campaign

Halo 2 and Halo 3 united the live community unlike any other game has ever and will ever do. Such a strong, unified community is what in part made the xbox so successful.

The game series got steadily worse single player as the games went on and where is the kinda middle ground opinion because not everyone will love or hate the game.

Halo 2 and Halo 3 united the live community unlike any other game has ever and will ever do. Such a strong, unified community is what in part made the xbox so successful.

That is a big statement and I have to disagree with you there as Quake and Cod series have much more tighter online communities especially with clans spanning whole series.
The xbox is a lot more successful because it is cheaper that is what really gave it's edge and a slightly bigger library of games not because of Halo there were much better exclusive games Microsoft could of picked to be it's flagship game.
Also why knowingly start a thread with such extreme options which is going to probably create a flame war.

1. It wasn't that original anymore.
2. I just found it über boring.

I just think it's a stronger game than Halo, mainly because of gameplay
and it was sooooo inavative
duel weilding, jacking someones ride, the arbiter story line, and last and not least Cairo Station on Legendary

duel weilding isn't specifically inovative but it felt better than any other game that had had it

Played the first one for a few days on a friend's Xbox, liked it. Didn't play the second one, then played the third one, found it exactly the same to playing the original. I didn't think it was bad or anything, just standard FPS-fare.

Those communities may be tighter, but what, 90% of people who own a 360 have Halo 3. No game on the PC has that kind of track record, except for maybe solitaire.
