I also don't see any plot-holes in Halo 3, and if you point out any I could probably fill them.

The story is hard to follow I'm told.
I "killed" Sargent Johnson and took his Spartan Laser in the last level but he still manged to have one later (and it had zero ammo yet I could fire infinite times.)

How did you manage that?

And gameplay and plot are different things, because it's a game you can do things not intended to be in the plot.

All you need is to shoot him in the head with a strong 1 shot weapon (I used BR) he falls down and you can quickly steal his weapon and give him yours. And he did has a Spartan Laser in the cutscene (then there's the unexplainable how he survived this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-pE7uGSj8Y].

He gutted the Elite and used it's body to shield himself from the explosion and vacuum of space then a Pelican that escaped picked him up.

Kidding, that being an easter egg means it is not part of the plot.

EndWar. I love Halo, all of them, even when people frown upon the story of halo 2 and 3. But the fact is, its going to be JUST another run of the mill RTS. EndWar on the other hand, seems like a new scene, and it joins together a whole line of games into one explosive finale!

Sure it is. They just got themselves stuck into the realm of "How? Answer: Magic".

Is this an Easter egg too then? [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yygn_vlH5a4]

I say neither. RTS games simply play much better on PCs. I dont know how they plan to "revolutionize" the console RTS genre, but I dont think they can without taking anyway much of the complexity you get from a PC version.

I had just assumed it to be the usual little after credits teaser to hint at some future plotline.

Though one can take the novels for what they want, Johnson's method of survival (and as a result, the fact that the legendary easter egg is just that) are detailed at the beginning of First Strike

Yes but he is in the explosion in the cutscene while in First Strike he has left well before hand.

He is, but he is only in the explosion in the cut scene for the extended legendary portion. Which is what is being poked at here; that is not something that actually happened, just a humerous non-canon easter egg joke for people who survived legendary.

Being that he isnt there in the standard cut scene, he is to assumed to have left as is detailed in First Strike. (As is given support by the fact he is alive in the following novels and games, where as it is impossible to have survived the blast.)

In the interests of the thread however, I would say I am looking more forwards to Halo Wars. If not for the blind Bungieness, at least from my distaste of voice controls. Story wise, I have never been a 'huge' fan of Tom Clancy stories. They are nice, and are usually well thought out and connected, but they are too grounded in modern day politics and reality for me to find them entertaining.

Likey my games to break from the world around me, as opposed to "alternate universe" tales of the world I live in. Not to say thats bad, its just not my taste.

Here's the achievements for the Xbox 360 version of EndWar, if you want to view them. [http://www.achieve360points.com/game/endwar/]

Both of them look like junk. EndWar is like Baby's First RTS, with ridiculously simplified gameplay as a result of its voice controls and focus on action (no resource management, as that'd be much too confusing for the kids). Halo Wars is a shameless cash-in; I'm sure it will be decent, mechanically, but I really don't care enough about Halo to bother, and it's yet another vain attempt by the industry to prove that RTS games can work well on consoles (here's a hint: they can't).
