I cannot abide flies, but if it's at all possible to shoo one out a window I will do that.
I take no pleasure in killing anything, and I leave spiders and moths alone. Moths especially, since they rank among my favourite animals.
We live beside a field containing livestock, though, which means that we get veritable swarms during the summer. I've taken to using flypaper lately. Hanging insect-graveyards are pretty macabre, but a better alternative to the buggers crawling all over the kitchen. Disgusting little critters, flies.
Oh. I'm not a huge fan of mosquitoes either, but you don't get them in Ireland. And I haven't seen a midge in years [have any of you Irishmen noticed this?]
