I'd love it if they'd been tricking us, and that was actual gameplay footage.

The new one yes! Have you seen how F***ING real the graphics look? I know GT5 has it beat on graphics but that piss pot of a game will never be as fun as Need for Speed.
.... backing away slowly

Final Fantasy 10.
Funny you should mention that. FFX was my first JRPG ever, and I loved the story and its characters. But I was freakin terrible at it - I was too lazy to update the sphere grid or my equipment every time a character levelled up or went on a spending spree at a shop, respectively. I just focused on the plot really.
Despite my lack of incentive however, I did manage to get to the (proper) final boss fight. I must've spent weeks trying to beat it, but failed miserably. EVERY FUCKING TIME.
Frustration got the better of me, and I just gave up. Zoom forward seven years to my bed ridden self (due to tonsilitus), and purely out of boredom, I dig through my old game collection, and spot none other than my dusty chargin. For old times sake, I give it another bash.
Now, at this stage of my life, I'm a pro. Somewhere along the way my younger, nooby, counterpart died and I breezed through this game like nobody's business. But then, at the (proper) final boss fight, the unthinkable happens: I lose. Again. Whilst the noob in me may have died, my enthusiasm once again spurred. I wanted to finish this story, to overcome this foe. Because, really, he felt like more than a foe... an adversary. I respected him, more so than any fictional character in any other media.

The day came when I did beat him, and finally seen that final cutscene. And beleive me, I bawwed. Not only for Tidus' and Yuna's epic story, but also in the closure of my extreemly pathetic nerdy legacy.

And I'm proud of it.

Persona 4, Fire Emblem 7, MGS3 and MGS4 have made me cry.

All the Ace Attorney games have made me tear up.

The first time I did the Anju/Kafei sidequest in Majora's Mask, I got a little teary.

The ending of Yume Nikki is just depressing, especially since
she jumps to her death right out of nowhere

Are you kidding? Many of the games I play specialize in doing that.

...but, I've been talking about those quite a bit lately, so I'll bring up something else.

Cat Got Lost.

EDIT: ...screw it, I'll spoil one of the endings for <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.206764-Neutral-Drow-reviews-Kana-Little-Sister>Kana: Little Sister.

For context, this is a year after her death.

Haven't cired yet, but I can safely say that I have been stirred up emotionally more than once while playing games.

I know exactly what you mean. The first time I beat FFX I was very young (under 10) and I did so with AR (Action Replay cheat system).

I didn't cry at the end, I was too young to find anything like that sad, it was just an ending to a game I had bought because it looked interesting.

Then a few years later after toiling through FFX-2 and the tragically bad FF12 I decided to retry it.

This time round I soaked up the story and the characterization, spent ages levelling up and exploring.

When that last cutscene came round I started to tear up... what an amazing experience.

I've never cried in a game. I've only ever been shocked once and that was at the beginning of Mass Effect 2. I just went silent, open-mouthed. That was an epic cutscene.

The only complaint I have on the Halo trailers is that it shows nothing of what the game will look like. I just makes it look cool if it was turned into some sort of movie.
i hate being the picky person at this...but just about 99% of every popular game to come out in the past 8 years or so have done this? i mean look at nearly every single e3 trailer this year, pure awesomeness for sure, but nothing to do with the combat or style of the game really.

OT: that gears of war mad world one always got me at first trailer wise,

and not gonna lie

when you can choose to have the human fleet come in or not to save the council (i of course saved them) with all the music playing in the background i got so pumped up from it i had some tears of pure adrenaline going, i was so pumped to beat the piss out of saren/sovereign

The Good ending of "Silent Hill 2".

It's a little drawn-out, but the catharsis and resolution of James' and Mary's story did the trick. And in a game where the voice acting was mediocre, the emotion in Mary's voice-over as she reads her final good-bye letter to James triggered the waterworks for me.
