If you watch FiM, do you think the show has changed your life in any way? Have you become more tolerant? Has it improved your state of mind? I'd say my work ethic and general mood have improved since watching ponies. I think the reason is that I finally have something to fall back to that always makes me happier. Before ponies, my friends provided little emotional support for me when I felt depressed or useless, but now there's a bunch of adorable colorful ponies that never fail to make me smile. I also have started exercising on a regular basis now that I can watch ponies on the treadmill and lifting weights, or listen to pony songs on my iPod while I walk or jog outside. I despise most television and modern music, so there wasn't a lot of ways I could keep myself entertained while exercising. I'd say the show has improved my life quite a bit. How about you guys?

Oh, this is going to end well... -_-

Ehm... not really, 'tis a fun series, granting my life a little more amusement, but I was fairly comfortable with my moral compass and approach to friendship before, so it hardly changed anything.

Oh dear :D

This certainly won't end up as a flaming crater, millions dead, with only a few of the hardiest posters surviving...

OT: No.

No it hasn't.

Compared to something like Firefly, MLP is a drop in the bucket of mediocrity.

Well, for me anyway, you guys can like what you want, of course.

Just know that it'll never be better than Firefly :D

I voted for the bottom option, for the hyperbolic lolz.

What is with the sudden influx of pony threads?
And to answer your question, it has not been "life changin", but I try to be more friendly towards people. I think that a lot of the morals brought up in the show (most notable the ones in season 1) actually have some merit to them.

I've seen more hostile become annoyingly happy. In a trippy kind of way.

But calling it life changing is a wee bit of a stretch no?

Also, I am just going to sit right over there, and grab some popcorn.
I am now ready for a real Escapist pony shitstorm.

They added another identifiable group to irritate me with their love of something banal.

Not at all.

It's a well put together show, for a child show that is.

And I've certainly made some friends that call themselves "Bronies" but yeah...

Nope.

Now let's see how long this thread lasts before I have to call the spiderman.

*Before this goes any further!*

Just so we're clear, the OP said if you actually watch the show. Everyone just here to ***** about ponies should stay clear of this thread. We'd like to have an actual discussion for once.

OP: I'd say so. The lessons from the show do fit to real life pretty well. And most of the people in the cummonity are great guys I'm happy to have met. I think my life is vastly improved.

Well the only self-named Brony I encountered IRL was a complete prat[footnote]Obviously I'm not saying the MLP fandom is bad, just not better or worse than any other fandom on the internet. [/footnote] so.......

Okay, so you're NOT the real Pinkamena?
FRAUD.
On-topic: It ALMOST made me more accepting of children's cartoons. I sat down with my little sister, the only person in my household that I confessed my bronyhood to, to watch some of her cartoons. Five seconds in, and I was reminded that MLP is the exception.
...
Those Ruby Gloom writers were way too eager to get into those time-travel hijinks. The exposition came out of nowhere.

I made some new friends who like the show, got some existing friends into the show, and it does give me a positive feeling when I watch the show. I'd say it's had a positive impact on my life, it's not like a life changing experience but it's still good...

Well, it's given me another hobby that I spend a lot of time with, and I've met many people both online and IRL who I wouldn't have met without the show. So in that way it has changed my life. But I wouldn't go as far as to say it's changed me as a person, other than that I might be more open to things that at first don't seem like something I'd enjoy.

Still, the things I listed are all good things and I'm glad to have found the show. I'm sure I'd have thought of something else to do if I hadn't found it, but I spend so much of my time doing MLP related stuff that I think it's safe to say my life would be a little different without it.

BUT, it's still just a TV show. It's not exactly what I would call "a life changing experience". New hobbies are nice, but let's not go overboard.

I can be whoever you want me to be, darling.
You AREN'T the real Pinkamena.
Slut.
Anyway, a pony can get away with posting off-topic, but I can't. Shame I've already pitched in my two cents.
I guess watching MLP has given me another dark secret to hide. What would my brother think? Heh... Who knows? Maybe he's a closet brony too! Or maybe my sister blabbed.
NOWHERE IS SAFE.

In a sense, yes.

The questions should rather be if the actual show, or the fandom has improved ones life in this matter.

IMO the show itself has done nothing but brought joy into my bleak existence, but it has thought me nothing that I did not already know.

The fandom on the other hand, has really given me a new perspective of what it means to have relations over the "interwebs". I could go on and on about those sweet souls. (ya'll know who ya are)

Would you believed me if I told you we even have a community on this very website?

I remember converting my best friend to bronyism. He used to go nuts every time I mentioned ponies. But slowly, things changed. He didn't watch any episodes, but he gradually began tolerating discussions of the characters. I showed him a few clips of Applejack, and he started laughing, called her the "redneck pony" and made jokes about her and Big Macintosh in an incestual relationship. It wasn't pretty, but at least he could watch certain clips from the show and not gag. When Season 2 rolled around, he watched "Return of Harmony" with me. He actually sat through most of it and said to me that Discord was "the best villain ever" and the ponies warped personalities were "hilarious". He still wouldn't watch episodes from Season 1. When he watched "Lesson Zero", he told me that he finally liked the show after seeing "Twilight on meth" and wanted to rewatch all of Season 1, this time with a better opinion of the show in general. Now he's converted all of his friends, listens to pony remixes on his iPod, and says that he's gonna die if Season 3 doesn't come out before October.
