About ten years ago, I was getting used to a new FPS ("new" in the sense that I had just started playing it- it was System Shock, actually, old even in those days) and relying on the quicksave/quickload function heavily. I took a break to do some chore or other, made a mistake- and found myself thinking "It's okay, I can just hit F9 and try again."

Once, when I was in secondary school (sort of the equivalent of high-school I guess). I'd been playing Prince of Persia a lot the last week or so. Anyway we were playing soccer (or real football ;)) and a guy got hurt in a bad tackle. And just for a second I tried to rewind time! It was only for a second, but it was weird.

No, not really.

Very occasionally, after I play a particular good game for several hours I find my immediate perception of the world changes slightly. For the first few blocks I drive after playing a racing game and/or GTA or Saint's Row I tend to be a little too forceful on the gas and brakes.

In school I'll randomly hear the achievement sound and look down for some reason

It must be some kind of reaction

After a good long day of MGS3, when I went for a midnight snack, I heard someone outside my bedroom door. I stood stock-still, then I slowly crept up behind him and, almost choked out my bro, sad but true.

Worse than confusing real life with a video game, a friend of mine that plays a lot of DnD type stuff asked for a drink, and I tossed it to him. As it escaped his grasp and lie rolling on the floor, he shrugged and said, "Damn. Guess I failed my dex check." His group heard about that and banned him from playing with them for a month for being such a nerd.

And you taught me. Can't believe I didn't know that after having played the damn game so many times.

Aaaaanyway, yeah, it's happened. Mostly with Half-Life, back when my computer couldn't run anything but HL and I had finished it a few dozen times. Every time I screwed up (say, dropped a glass or something like that), I was looking to push F7.

Also, while not a game thing, when I lose something (papers, keys etc), I have the unbearable need to push Ctrl + F.

Whenever I get something expensive I hold it up and hear the Zelda got item sound.

... well, no, but it'd be *awesome*.

I do sometimes expect HUD elements to be there, and the quicksave/quickload keys too. Such as when I manage to hurt myself I want to check my health meter. And preferably walk over a first aid kit.

EDIT: On the "dex check" point - half of DnD nerds do that jokingly.

I've been playing so much FIFA that I can sometimes hear Clive Tyldesley and Andy Gray commentating on my life.
"Oh, he should of done better there! I was sure he would score!"

After playing games for a long time that have repetitive noises(example:mario's coin noise), I hear those sounds quite often for the rest of the day.

After playing Half-Life 2, I saw the end of a rope hanging from the roof and immediately looked up to shoot the barnacle. >_>

Thank you. I have looked at people and considered that they might be faster than me, but that's more of a paranoia thing.

I'm always on the lookout for zombies, and I always randomly shout "BOOMERS" at school.

One I forgot was Guitar Hero. If I play that game for a few hours before bed, when I try to sleep I keep seeing the interface for some reason. No tune or anything just the scrolling brightly colored dots.
